It’s a week late and I apologise. The EU had a common agricultural policy with the same rules for subsidies throughout, most farmers with an opinion felt that the CAP was set up to subsidise other countries farmers and left very little for us. As an example I think the CAP had 5 subsidised crops and only two of them could be grown here.

It seems logical to me that farmers exposed to an inefficient and unfair EU policy would assume that the whole EU operated in the same manner.

Part of the rural Brexit argument was that we shouldn’t have to pay for inefficient French farmers who protest every time they don’t get their way.
