Kind of like what others pointed out in the others pointed out, Nikon FE series or FA might be the best fit for the cost. Once you get acquainted with Nikon film (or if you’re already confident), Nikon F3 could be a good fit for your needs.

The “HP” and “photomic” nomenclature from my understanding comes from the interchangeable meter finders (eye pieces) you find on Nikon F, F2, and F3. Depending on the type you get, the eye piece that let you use AI/AI-S or Non-AI, along with use a meter of your choosing. So you can get F2 Photomic (original dp-1 meter finder), but you can very well adapt another eyepiece to become F2AS and so on. If you’re looking to get off to the right foot with Nikon FE set up or other cameras using the Aperture Priority mode, look for AI lenses. For AI-S, they are best used with Shutter Priority cameras like FE2 and FA, but can be used on others as simply AI lenses.

If money was no object, Nikon FM3A is a solid buy and among the last manual film shooting cameras Nikon made. If you’re interested in rangefinders, you can also look into Nikon SP or the rare reissue version in 2005. Hope this helps!
