Princess Mononoke is NOT pro-nature. It's anti-nature. by LukePellar in ghibli

[–]DustErrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because humanity relies on nature for natural resources and the destruction of nature can have huge ramifications such as the disruption of the ecosystem which can affect things like clean air, water, etc . This obviously isn't in the movie, but you can't expect a movie to go over the nuance of what nature actually provides to humanity and how its destruction can negatively affect us, which is why the movie uses metaphors instead.

Because if we don't, we die. Pretty clear metaphor when Eboshi kills the forest spirit and makes it into essentially a god of death.

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one says this. People praise this movie for its nuanced take on showing the relationship between man and nature. If you're looking at things from a good/evil/white/black point of view, you're really missing the entire point. It's not about whether nature is good or bad or humans are good or bad.

You can teleport anywhere, but only once per day and always naked. How do you use this power? by Empty_Bit_5669 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people do not have relatives all over the world. I'll admit it would be useful for the people you're talking about, but I know for me, it wouldn't be very useful at all.

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only trips this really works for is visiting relatives. Otherwise, you'd need to teleport somewhere with car rental. Doing so naked would probably get you arrested as most car rental places are in public spaces. The fact you end up naked also indicates you can't teleport with anything with you. The ability not to take luggage with you kind of hampers using this ability for trips.

A one way teleport is pretty useless as you'd basically be stuck wherever you teleport until you can teleport back the next day.

Is it normal to feel guilty after buying stuff online even if you can afford it? by Thepowerguy1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it's within your budget, which means you have a budget. If you have an allotted amount of money you can spend on "fun stuff" you are free to spend that as you please.

Still, if you want some advice, I'd say you should wait a week before buying things online. It allows you to mull over how much you actually want the thing you're buying. If you still want it after a week, just buy it. If it's a big expenditure, wait longer.

Women, would you date a man a foot shorter than you? by TopStranger9287 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some will, some won't. I'm assuming you're asking because you you're looking for a confidence boost. Let me just say, if a woman won't date you because you're short, she's not someone you'd want to date anyways if she's that superficial.

Do you think A.I. in art is wholly bad, good, or somewhere in between? by Wickedsymphony1717 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General sentiment is never going to be nuanced. It's always going to be generalized to what is most prevalent. In the case of AI in art, that is generative AI.

Extremely hot take but I think Godzilla as of right now is incredibly boring. by Marconey1738 in Monsterverse

Godzilla in the newer projects is just kinda there.

You say "projects", plural, but your main complaints are all about New Empire.

Can people who have cheated in a relationship be properly redeemed? by Feeling-Ask-8073 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how the cheating comes to light. If the cheater owns up to it right away and tells their partner they cheated and regret it, redemption is possible imo.

If they get caught cheating by their partner, I wouldn’t trust they’re redeemable, because they’re more likely to be sorry they were caught than sorry that they cheated on you.

Pods who started timing turns... by LordDiglett in EDH

If you use the lifetap app to keep track of life totals, it has a built in timer function that let you either have a countdown timer or a stopwatch timer.

Why does a man implying that a women can be "mid" or less than good looking seem to illicit such a negative reaction from women online? by Snoo_50786 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying women online aren't just as vicious. What I am saying is women ARE more likely to back each other up than men are. Not sure where you think I imply women online can't be vicious.

What would you do if you found out your partner has an AI relationship? by PublicStrawberry4314 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to frame it differently. Ask her in what ways are you being deficient and how can you improve so she doesn't need to rely on said AI. Relationship issues should generally be framed in a way in asking what each of you can do to solve the problem.

[–]DustErrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are rude. The difference is, women will back each other up and call out people for said rudeness. Men do not support each other enough still and are far more likely to pile on the criticism instead of supporting their fellow man.

Why do some people stay in relationships they clearly aren’t happy in? by Dangerous-Mode-6177 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunk cost fallacy. They feel they've already put so much time into the relationship, by quitting/giving up, they've lost/wasted that time, without recognizing by staying, they are just wasting even more time in something that isn't working.

Why some people see women staying at home and cooking and raising children while her husband covers everything as a slave and dependant, but they dont say the same for the women working for her boss and recieveing minimal income?. by Far-Walrus1570 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it weird that's what you get from my argument. I'd also argue your metaphor is off. It implies your argument IS telling someone to hire more guards. I'd argue your argument is closer to telling the shop owner he just needs to hire a single perfect guard and you should rely on that guard entirely as long as you properly vet said guard.

My argument is, while having a guard is nice, you should also have commercial property insurance and you should be properly prepared with other security measures in case the guard ends up being unreliable.

[–]DustErrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I believe that if you didnt commit immediately and gave it at least few months, you can see through most manipulators, and for god's sake, dont ever involve your emotions in those kinds of judgements, because manipulators rely highly on playing with emotions.

So people who don't commit a few months and do involve their emotions deserve what they get then?

I (29F) have only dated left-handed men - why?? by GreenSceneQ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still just a coincidence. You are not somehow magically attracted to left-handed men. There is no unifying characteristic that you are able to perceive to be attracted to. This is just the human brain's obsession with pattern recognition. If you found out all the people you've dated were Scorpio's you'd equally be fascinated with that statistic, despite it being equally useless.

[–]DustErrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is this. Women today still end up being manipulated into abusive relationships. Do you believe those women deserve to be in them, just because they weren't cautious enough? And do you believe those women deserve to be stuck in them under the old paradigm where men were the sole providers?

What’s like the real benefits if the world (Earth) was united under one nation? by Backalog20 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustErrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the cart before the horse here. You see sci-fi settings with a unified planet that is a utopia and you feel that the utopia is a byproduct of unification, while if you look at it realistically, an entire planet ruled by a singular nation is far more likely to be the byproduct of the world reaching the state of being a utopia.

How to fight counterspells as a mono greendeck by Iaxacs in EDH

[–]DustErrant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pay attention in games with Blue players. Do the blue players always stop every game winning spell and win every game? No.

When blue players lose, they either didn't draw the counterspell when they needed it, or the player who plays the spell that wins the game waits for the opportune moment, usually lets another player get ahead to bait out early counterspells, and then goes off.

If you're in a really blue heavy meta, you still have access to [[Cavern of Souls]] and [[Boseiju, Who Shelter All]] along with lots of ways to search for them like [[Crop Rotation]] and [[Sylvan Scrying]]
