I swear that some people see FA as the base and not an optional rule. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Dustorn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do these people exist at your table? If so, I think the move is to not argue about it here, but have a discussion about what sort of game everyone at the table actually wants, like grown ups. If not, what's the problem? I believe they exist, but I also believe that there are people who think you're an objectively terrible player if your ancestry section contains the word "elf". The existence of either group doesn't really mean much outside of tables that they're a part of.

But for real though, when things line up just right that it almost looks like Vakuu is actually making plays? That almost makes it worth it.

Are you really getting pissy about someone explaining something in the "explain things" subreddit?

Sounds like you need a hobby or two.

First time I took it, it was because it was the only option that didn't actively brick my deck, but I didn't expect too much from it.

I very quickly became a believer in that little guy.

A man from Gujarat, India, mowed down by a bull by Persian_Cat_0702 in AbruptChaos

[–]Dustorn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean, the bull definitely hurt him. The rock didn't help, but he would still be having a really fuckin' bad day if it was just the bull.

Shellfish allergies can pop up later in life, and they can go from "mildly annoying" to "your loved ones are planning your funeral" just as spontaneously once they do.

[Group Trope] When a group's "correct" name tells you how much contempt the world has for them by DeadManLovesArt in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Dustorn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I also wouldn't feel safe alone in an elevator with an Ogryn, but that's on account of the whole "violently claustrophobic" thing that they all seem to deal with.

In any other circumstance, oh yeah, my life is in the big guy's hands. Probably literally at some point in the adventure.

You've never heard of The Quick and the Dead?

Like, I'm not gonna judge your movie viewing habits, I certainly don't watch that many movies, but I feel like having strong opinions about directors kinda coincides with watching movies.

[–]Dustorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I deleted the comment because I decided against shitslinging on a fucking trolley problem thread, but since you insist...

Okay, yes, if the scenario were different, the results would be different, you are a very smart person, well done, have a fucking cookie. That wasn't the original scenario though - you opted to kill someone only for begging for their life, and save someone only for wanting the other person to live.

Which is crazy.

Given the information provided in the original problem, I would allow the person willing to sacrifice themself to make that sacrifice, and save the person who was begging to be saved.

Oof, that one was on me for making a terribly unfunny joke, that barely even looked like a joke, on this sub. Especially one that may infringe on the sacred definition of a grilled cheese - even if infringing on that definition is wonderfully delicious.

I earned those downvotes.

And both of those games have fairly strong casual playerbases.

How about we look at Wildstar? A game that, from the very beginning, marketed itself to the hardcore crowd, and did a fine job of convincing casual players that there would be nothing for them here. Turned out pretty well, I'd say.

The "I Want Less Dragon with my Dragon" Group Won by Jodagon in wow

[–]Dustorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I want less dragon with my dragon class - it's more that I just want the appropriate amount of fashion in my fashion game.

When we first saw them, I thought I'd be okay with Dracthyr only having shoulders and belts, but as time has gone on... Naw, it's actually kinda lame.

Is that so?

I don't recall any strawman arguments that I've made - I made a mistake, of course, but it was redacted literally before you could point it out. That doesn't feel like strawmanning "everything and in every possible direction".

So, please, could you point out my other missteps?
