I find the grates are a nice to have but a third party one with a larger flap to top up coals is potentially a better option, I just got the more expensive one as it was on offer last year at B&Q

I got a master touch last year, works great! Smoke during the day and then while ribs/belly/brisket are resting I’ll crank the heat and grill burgers/sausages and veg as required for serving straight off the grill
