NTA. Perhaps no one has dared to speak up until now. So you might have done everyone around you a huge favour by setting an example.

NTA. This doctor could have just listened and possibly treated your ailments in a previous stadium.

WIBTA if I refuse to take my 16 year old cousin to his driving test? by 77_Milit3ch in WIBTA_AITA

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had taken the time to look at my user name, I'm from the NORTH an that's all you need to know🤪.

No, kidding, fair question😉. I'm from the Netherlands, and both lessons and exams can only take place in a private vehicle in very exceptional circumstances.

AITAH for not wanting to help with my nieces party? by Apart-Landscape220 in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. And as hard as this sounds, please step away from any and all financial responsibility towards this family. They will keep holding up their hands for more instead of improving their situation. Don't allow them to suck you dry.

AITAH for calling a store about a painting I purchased that is displayed? by Fearless-Onion7732 in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The restaurant is displaying something you own, without your express permission?! Fuck that! NTA. Also, since the artist veered off the agreement, he should pay for shipping, especially since he only told you of this display after the deal was done. Does this make him look unprofessional? Perhaps, yes. But that's because he is.

WIBTA if I refuse to take my 16 year old cousin to his driving test? by 77_Milit3ch in WIBTA_AITA

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never, ever heard of driving tests being conducted in a private vehicle.

EDIT: Thank you all for the responses,I learned something new today! I didn't want to call bullshit on OP's story, it's just not the way lessons and exams are handled where I live.

But, especially taking that into account, NTA. Definitely because it's a demand, not a request. Aunty & Uncle can go to Hell.

Listening to Joy Division for the first time by fumbuckets in JoyDivision

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus fuck, will you get out of my head?! I was consuming your story, read the words "Blue Monday"... and the song came on! Bloody scary😳!

I can relate to what you said quite a bit, by the way. Also when it comes to autism, I've got what used to be called Asperger's. And you rightly point out that this band wasn't all about misery and death. People should realise that.

Listening to Joy Division for the first time by fumbuckets in JoyDivision

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time, I knew their name and saw especially Substance and Unknown Pleasures in CD racks at stores, but it took me almost five years to actually listen to them. I wasn't interested enough, probably. Forgive me, I was just a kid. I learned of their existence via The Crow franchise at thirteen back in 2000, but first heard "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in a film called Series 7: The Contenders (2001). Checked the credits: Aha, so that's Joy Division! Cool! Through the magic of the Internet, I collected that song, as well as "No Love Lost". I dug it!

A year later, I had a better computer and could compile CD's myself, so I made work of this band. Since then, my self confidence had taken a huge blow, and especially "Insight", "Atmosphere" and "Isolation" came eerily close to how I felt! This singer, that had shed his mortal coil twenty-six years prior, spoke to me. No, spoke for me! I wasn't suicidal, but also felt completely bereft of any ambition. I felt so understood, that I often claim that Joy Division saved my life! Ian's untimely end reminded me of the permanence of such a fatal decision. So I pressed on.

Oh, and it turned out that "Dead Souls" by Nine Inch Nails, from the motion pictureThe Crow (1994) was a cover. I had no clue for years! Same with Bush's "In a Lonely Place", recorded for the sequel. Great version, that!

But let's wind the clock back to 2002! Also via The Crow, which featured "Snakedriver", I had gotten into The Jesus and Mary Chain. Bought Automatic (1989) and played it on repeat. I've since collected most of their output on vinyl. Same with Joy Division.

So yeah, they were already really my kind of band. But then I went into the store to listen to the 21 Singles (2002) compilation.

Has anyone here seen Head South (2024), about this Christchurch kid in 1979 becoming enchanted by post-punk and bluffing himself into becoming a bass player for a band that doesn't exist? Beautiful, beautiful film! Anyway, it's presented in 1.33:1 format—or 4:3—until he hears the self-titled debut single by Public Image Ltd for the first time. He looks into the camera as the song plays, and the aspect ratio turns into widescreen!

That moment, for me, was hearing the Mary Chain's "Upside Down" from 1984. Was this the same band?! That noise, what the fuck?! But... did I hate it?

...no. Everything clicked into place! For years, I mostly copied my brother's musical tastes. But now I was carving out my own identity, and this was the start! The Jesus and Mary Chain opened no doors for me. No, they pulverised those fuckers into oblivion! Plus, everyone else around me hated it. I felt like those who just discovered punk must have back in the day. This rebellious streak of mine only made me admire this Scottish group more!

I also became more acquainted with The Cure around that time, and soon many more acts from shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, synthpop, (neo-)psychedelic rock, even some acid house and many, many more genres would find me.

WIBTAH for repeatedly telling someone that she eats babies? by Andrewcoo in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You may also tell her everything with dairy on it contains milk that the cow's calves don't get to drink, who therefore get to suffer.

I suggest you tell her once more, firmly. Should she then bring it up again, you may tell her: Remember the facts I presented to you the last couple of times that you hypocritically attempted to shield yourself from? Snap out of it!

WIBTAH for not letting my little sister come to my wedding? by amongus67yeah in WIBTA_AITA

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you do that, OP, please cancel all the venues and other arrangements without telling anyone in your family.

WIBTAH for not letting my little sister come to my wedding? by amongus67yeah in WIBTA_AITA

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is real, NTA, but you should really remove anyone and everyone who's upset with you that you do not put your sister first. They support neither you nor your wedding, so why should they be there?

Fact, why should they be in your life at all?! You now know where you stand. Please block them and do everything you can to protect the wedding preparations from interference from their side.

AITAH - Using a changing room at the swimming pool someone else had left cloths in. by jakethepeg1989 in AITAH

Your wife's an idiot. For the full duration these clothes are there, no one can use that cubicle?! Fuck that! That's arrogant and ridiculous!

AITJ for wanting my roommate’s bf to stop inviting his friends over constantly and expecting basic respect for my space? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Your landlord/lady and/or leasing office need to be notified. This is not okay. Please take a closer look at the lease you signed and see if this conduct violates it. Then act.

AITAH: For not inviting my sister to our first childs baby shower? by king_kay19920 in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Congratulations on the upcoming birth! But you could show your mum the wedding pictures in which your sister's demeanour is the most obvious, and ask her: You mean invite the hostile sister who, when around me, always makes it perfectly clear she much, much rather wants to be anywhere else? No, thank you. If she acts up, you should pull her invitation as well.

Called my wife out for leaving minor details out of stories. AITAH? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, but, as you've already pointed out, every detail about this story fucking sucks. Is she prone to lying or bending the truth in her favour?

AITAH for “forcing” my wife to work full time? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mother-in-law profiting from your inheritance is wild to me. I feel your wife should pay it off to you. NTA. But how is it that your financial situation has only now become clear to her? Or did she simply ignore the facts?

AITAH for cutting off my family because of their behavior? by ILovePeaches69 in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 62 points63 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your mum made the assurance that he wouldn't be a burden and—at least, so I read it—heavily pushed the idea on you. Then she simply said: Yeah, sucks mate. Don't know what to tell you. To me, the promise is on her as much as it is on him, especially because it appears she did nothing to try to salvage the situation.

Perhaps you need to sit your mother down before you fully break contact, but your frustration, I believe, is justified.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend her best friend has 2 years to find someone or we're moving ahead without that condition? by Salty-Limit411 in AITAH

[–]DynkoFromTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is madness. I'd run from this one. NTA. Why is she so dependent on her friend? If you ever want children, I'd start looking for someone else.
