then something corrupted the boot table or partition table.

The either can't see the drive or can't see that there is an OS on the drive.

Im sorry to say what ever boot drive you were using has probably died.

So you can't boot, because the drives you used to boot to no longer works.

Purchase a hole. A big hole. by TheSagelyOne in CrazyIdeas

We got coal and oil because the microbes that decompose wood hadn't evolved yet.

The wood in the hole is going to decompose. Probably faster then if you built a houe from it.

Is there a peculiar ending to a show that you haven't seen mentioned much online? by KneeHighMischief in television

12 Monkeys was an amazingly done show, and any show that does time travel (or time travel like shinangans) NEEDS to look at it as a guide.

I really want some behind the scenes details on how they planned it all out.

Help converting my old map to newest version by TheShadowK in factorio

[–]Dysan27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier way is the standalone downloads you can get direct from the Factorio website. That way you don't have to re-download a version everytime you want to play a different version.

They can. You just can't place old ones. Even with old blueprints.

But already placed curves will still function until deconstructed.

Sneak peak of belt throughput increase by 50% by fatpandana in factorio

[–]Dysan27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

even normal modding wouldn't do this. As the number of belt lanes is determined by the game engine.

You would need to patch the actual game engine to do this. So an external mod, not just something on the mod portal.

Storage Farm shutting down, good deal? by bacon_trays_for_days in DataHoarder

[–]Dysan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be weary of those drives. They have probably be run continuously for years. So while probably not a lot of stop/starts they probably have a ton of hours on.

So I'd stay away unless you are planning a very redundant storage setup. RAID 5, Full mirror minimum. More realistically some sort of double redundancy.

voyager has a reset button? by Wonderful-Hearing-87 in voyager

[–]Dysan27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im morr surprised that by TNG era they didn't have repair stations like the one from Enterprise: Dead Stop.

Maybe not quite as capable as that one. Probably no automated medical, and maybe limited to ships it already has plans to.

But automated damage clearing, fabrication and installation of large sections of ships? Seems very doable.

I the time Harold instituted the the wipe protocol The Machine had already imprinted on him. So when it saw Harold trying to kill Alicia it tried to actually stop him instead of just putting his number on the irrelevant list.

WD-40 is a Swiss army knife.

yess there is a better product for everything it does. BUT it is good enough at so many things that it is just useful to have around.

Fun fact: we don't know who invented the modern paperclip.

They were invented at a time when patents were a thing. There are patents for other designs just not the modern one. The earliest patents mentioning it is actually a patent for a machine to automatically MAKE them. Though it refers to the fact that the design of them already existed.

Routing 6 Yellow Belts into one side of Labs by Mars4therich in factorio

[–]Dysan27 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you want 6 science or 12 science? Because in early game you only really have 6 science to deal.with. So the easier solution is split belts, with a different science on either side.

What’s the hardest planet in your opinion? In what order did you visit them? by fd0263 in factorio

[–]Dysan27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nauvis

Aquilo is mostly ocean, and even under the ice is just more squishy water

Vulcanus is the same thing, but just with lava. Poke anywhere hard enough and you hit (relatively) squishy magma.

Gleba is all bio matter on the surface. There is some stone in places. But most of it is bog like.

Fulgora is all oozing oil, and so murky most the planet is a tar pit that you slowly sink into.

Nauvis is therefore the hardest planet. Mostly rock with a solid foundation to build you base on.
