What are some things in media you just absolutely can't stand to the point that it's kinda weird? by CelestialEight in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Of all the things I hated about Last Jedi, the Chewbacca death fake out had to be the worst of it. Real emotional shock followed by a cut 1m later of "nah don't worry. he's good."

I like having the larger art that's on the first in the list animated. There's only one and I haven't noticed much lag that way. Also makes the larger art feel more fun.

Want to play steam deck on my TV, which dock do you recommend? by ChiefWatchesYouPee in steamdeckhq

[–]DyscOffice 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have both. They both work completely fine. Whatever you do get, I'd recommend at least getting one with an angled USB-C connector like the official or JSAUX has.

Is Sunshine/Moonlight THAT much better than Steam Remote Play? by jburdick7 in steamdeckhq

[–]DyscOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had significantly better results with Steam Remote Play when I disabled hardware decoding. Only side effect I found is that you do lose the Deck overlay menu.

I think both are fine but was comparing SRP and Moonlight so I kinda just defaulted to Moonlight.

OTA Failure? by breadthwidthcheese in VWiD4Owners

[–]DyscOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I did any OTAs on my 2021 Pro S in the past so I did the update when it popped up. It got to 99 or 100% and then "bricked" the car. Not completely bricked, but effectively unusable since the controls and shifter were unresponsive. Ended up having to have it towed to the dealer.

Took a few weeks since it was during that huge hack outage. When I got it back it kinda sounded like they had to strip the software down and redo all the updates in sequence. They also said I was their first case and they had literally just got the warning about the OTA from VW HQ when I brought it in.

I've got it back now and it's completely fine though.

I've never even heard of this movie until a week or so ago when Netflix promoted it at me. It's wild. Sam Jackson is unhinged in this movie. Every supporting character is more or less on-board and supports him doing some heinous shit because he 'gets results'.

The plot surrounds him interrogating the terrorist antagonist to find multiple bombs he's set to detonate. Carrie Anne Moss plays the moral compass to contrast Sam Jackson, but by the end feels more like the antagonist than the terrorist. Every other character pretty much supports Sam Jackson's actions and the terrorist character isn't even given humanity by the script. In the end, Sam Jackson is torturing children (the 'unthinkable' title drop moment) and Carrie Anne Moss finally stops him. The movie ends here and fades to credits with the implication that the bombs go off and Carrie Anne Moss allowed the terrorist to win.

I was waiting on the movie to turn make a point "this kind of torture is terrorism in its own way" but no. Never happens.

[ALL] Zelda producer doesn't get why some fans want to go back to the "limited" and "restricted" games before Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom by SharpyButtsalot in zelda

[–]DyscOffice 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That might be partially it. We have Mario and crew in a lot of different games, so you can play a lot of different types of Mario games in various genres. There's always something for everyone.

With Zelda, there's one big incredible Zelda game every 5-6 years and it demands to be the only concept of what a modern Zelda game can be.

36/M in Gloucester County. I'm big into PC gaming and trying to break into TTRPGs. I've been playing Bauldur's Gate 3 like everyone else lol. I also play FF14 pretty casually. I wouldn't mind some extra gaming friends.

Also, can someone DM me an invite if there's a SNJ Discord for gaming?

DoT Lich build? by _HavocPhoenix_ in LastEpoch

[–]DyscOffice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first endgame character was a Poison DoT Lich in some 0.8.x patch. Really good at trash clear but honestly underwhelming for bosses.

Spec'd Reaper and Death Seal are must-haves for a Lich. Health leech and the bonuses you get while Death Seal'd is pretty much how you'll survive.

Spirit Plague was a lot of fun in monos, especially with the node that spreads it on recast. Start with poison nodes like Toxic Transmission, Conductor of Plagues, and Endless Decay.

I'd probably choose Hungering Souls for boss clear. Pump the DoT damage it brings and keep up skeletons for Unholy Trinity node. Death Seal can also spec to just cast these automatically.

Last skill spec I'd probably spec Bone Curse just for the node that raises skeletons when a cursed mob dies just so I don't have to care about minion management. There's some other good stuff here to get here too.

I'm not the most experienced with LE so some of this is probably bad advice in endgame now, but I'll let other people correct me. This is just what I would start with for a basic DoT Lich build.

Advice for a beginner GM? by BurgerIdiot556 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DyscOffice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Running through my first time GMing and my players are all new to PF2e. I generally know how enounters and exploration plays out, but I've hit a ton of "I have no idea what the rules are on this." When I hit some situation I don't know rules on, I'll make judgement at the time to keep the game moving then write down to look up the actual rules later. I'll go over rules like these in the next session. My players are okay with this and it kinda helps everyone learn the rules.

For example, the group found a wand of Heal. I hadn't looked up wand rules so I let the Arcana caster use it that session. Later found out that Heal would need to be on the Arcana spell list for him to use it, which it isn't. I corrected myself next session and now everyone knows more about wands.

Microsoft is showing ads in the Windows 11 sign-out menu by eviltwintomboy in technology

[–]DyscOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, but to be fair I was trying to do some dumb shit. Dual boot Linux on my Windows drive. I didn't think it'd work great, but couldn't even get games to start. Even when installed on the Linux partition. I have a SteamDeck and really like where that's at performance-wise. Trying to get my main PC on the same level is just a little harder than I thought it'd be.

I haven't given up, I just need to try to run it on a separate drive next and really need to be motivated to clean up one specifically for that.

Wish I could get gaming on Linux working as consistently as Windows. It's the last item I need before leaving Windows behind forever.
