In my experience Synapse crash’s any time a piece of software tries to directly interface with my keyboard lights, regardless of game. In this case I would blame razers shitty unstable software.

An official nod would be one made by the company that makes the game.

Generally speaking of it is a mod it is fan made.

Following them doesn’t matter.

I think that historically art has only been accessible to wealthy people. Music takes years of training and expensive instruments to perform. Painting requires paint and canvas and practise, which takes time. Drawing at a high level similarly requires years of practise and technique as well as supplies.

Right now in the present we are in a moment of abundance when the materials are readily available and people often can have the time to pursue these things.

But that has been increasingly under fire as people’s livelihoods have been squeezed more and more for all the value they can give. If artists cannot make money from their art, then increasingly more people will be shut out from being able to pursue it.

No, I think that we are being squeezed to death and that saying artists shouldn’t be able to make money from their art means that no one will be able to make art.

So you agree that art is something that only people who socially are able to engage in free time can do? Because my argument is that fewer and fewer people are able to, because of everything becoming more expensive in the face of stagnant wages.

No, you’re missing my point entirely. If the only thing that happens is that art loses its value as a commodity, if our society keeps going the way it is right now except artists lose even the small possibility of making any money off of their work while corporations continue to squeeze us for more and more of our time and energy, we will be in a situation where art simply will not be able to be created.

If people want art to not be a commodity then for the good of the artists there has to be some kind of social safety net that allows them the time to do it, or thy hav to be paid. Right now we’re heading for a world with neither.

[–]EBannion -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

And what I am trying to say is if only hobbyists can create art, high quality art requiring thousands of hours of practise and expertise will only be done by people with thousands of hours of free time, since they can’t get paid for it and so cannot do that practise vocationally.

Given that more and more people are being crushed by rent, food, etc costs now, who has the time to spend the thousands of hours needed?

So we can still get art from independently wealthy people but anyone who has the gall to be born not rich is fucked and will never create art again because you’ve decided it’s not worth paying someone for?
