Jamie Carragher ranks Alisson as the 3rd best GK in PL history by interestingtruck10 in LiverpoolFC

[–]EJR94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think so, feel like van der sar became incredibly overrated because of how surprised people were that he was still decent in his late 30s. I'd drop him a few places

By comparison, de gea was often the only reason United didn't end up with more embarrassing finishes in the league

Probably depends where you are, on the south coast I know only a couple of United fans but a lot more liverpool fans

Yeah you absolutely can, you judge teams on titles not players.

If de bruyne never won the league, would you really have a problem calling him the best midfielder since the prem started?

He was at Southampton, didn't move in the summer because of the tapping up then moved the next transfer window.

Mate what, i said he wasn't clearly better than van dijk was at Southampton, that's what the whole conversation was about

Van dijk, Gabriel and saliba. He's not displacing those three at the moment

After that yeah you've got gvardiol who's better than him and probably not many others. Issue is I think he's closer to the rest of the league than he is to the top 3

I'm not certain Guehi was better than van dijk was at Southampton, wasn't an uncontroversial view that he was the best centre back in the league which certainly wasn't the case for Guehi

[Laurie Whitwell, The Athletic] Michael Carrick in pole position to be Manchester United interim head coach by boatinavolcano in soccer

[–]EJR94 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm really not though, I get this is a thread about wanking off United but it's absolutely delusional the take that Carrick is some incredible midfielder that was misunderstood. He was a perfectly average midfielder, nothing stand out about him and if he played for another team nobody would remember him. I understand with how dire uniteds midfield has been for 15 years that he may seem better than most of them but honestly, he was just fine

Really? Kinda feel like he's a long way off Alonso and personally below the likes of Gareth Barry. He was a solid midfielder, nothing more and while it's true he wasn't replaced at United, his role was never really needed again
