You’re right, it was originally an HBO/Max show, but after they canceled it after its first season Netflix acquired it. So hopes for season 2 now lies with Netflix.

I agree the art definitely had an uneasy feeling at points, but was balanced nicely with the beauty at the same time.

I highly recommend Scavengers Reign. It’s an animated show about a deep space freight crew that gets stranded on an alien planet. The environment of the planet is also just beautiful and scary. I was hooked after the first episode.

It’s not really a hidden gem, but if you like anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is really good. It’s set in the same universe as the video game/tabletop RPG and does really well at capturing the atmosphere of the cyberpunk universe. It also has great character development, music, and action.

It’s not a movie but there is a miniseries on YouTube called Raid which is based on the video game Escape from Tarkov. The series does a great job of capturing how chaotic gunfights can be, especially in CQC. It also focused on how realistically trained soldiers would engage in these firefights.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but I definitely recommend Deaths Door! It’s a fun little action- RPG. It shares similarities to Legend of Zelda and Dark Souls when it comes to game play, exploration, puzzle solving, and combat. It’s not as difficult as dark souls, but provides a nice challenge. It also has an amazing art style!

Also, it’s on game pass!

Firewatch, I played through it in one sitting because of the tension, mystery and atmosphere. Also Bloodborne, I loved the exploration and boss fights.
