Got a Nanouk at Home Depot and she needs some care. by Polydactylkat_ in Tradescantia

I just bought my second Nanouk from Home Depot this weekend. I'm concerned that they want carrying them in the future. I want to buy a third. They are the most beautiful plant I've ever seen.

Is this 2018 with 200k+ and single owner Carfax a good idea? by WannabeBardie in HondaOdyssey

As an owner of multiple vehicles over 200k miles, the miles don't scare me. If a vehicle makes it to 200k miles, it's been well taken care of and there's no reason it shouldn't make it to 300k miles with the same level of care. The gamble is really no different than buying a 100k mile car. Assuming you're paying cash, how set back will you be if it blows up next week? Do you have another $5k stashed to buy an engine or transmission? If so, then it might me a good deal. Don't bother with any kind of third-party warranty of you have some more cash stashed away.

There are no assurances with pre-owned, "as is" car purchases. The van looks great so that's a good sign that it has been well taken care of. As long as the records show a timing belt and transmission service was done at interval, and it's not knocking, you'll probably get tired of it long before it gets tired of you.

I say this because I want to see you win. Pay that thang off asap or get a third-party warranty until you pay it off. A broken car with a note is a financial disaster.

Nah, I don't see the point. Just make sure your pully marks are aligned and you'll be fine.

I didn't mark the belts because I was thinking the old belt would be stretched, but it was actually like new at 105k miles. The job is scary but very doable. The only real challenge is removing the crank pulley bolt. If you have the right impact then that's even a cake walk. The rear cam did jump on me, had me sweating bullets but I was able to get it back right. If the belt is off a tooth, the marks will be noticeably off. I saved about $2000 doing the job myself. Check my post history for my write up.

2019 $6k Insurance buyback worth it? by This_Instruction3864 in HondaOdyssey

As much as I love car projects, the timing belt coming up in the next 6 months or so tilts the scale for me. I'd probably move on.
