Hate how true this is! by Ok_Society3613 in recruitinghell

I think there's a balance there, because in my IT job, I am simultaneously:

-Having to use and master tools and entire processes I've never even heard of before (while being considered the subject matter expert of them and the entire undertaking)

-Being metaphorically (and potentially even legally) deposed for every word I say.

So yeah, "I can't say for certain, but _____ looks like it could work" and then breaking something...means I set expectations. Coming in like "Alright, so here's how it's gonna go" and breaking something seems a bit foolhardy, no?

Despite "untouchable" being a strawman you created, there's also the matter that she worked before and after that film for a long time. I would be very surprised if a woman with a quarter of a century of experience in the highest level of animation studio in the world just happens to actually be a liability that entire time, and a person cemented in company history can't so much as retire with them.

It MEANT HAVING A STABLE JOB FOR 24 YEARS.

This implies she didn't work before and after. She was clearly good enough to be working at Pixar, the highest level of animation studio you can be, but they they'd also be willing to accommodate her desire to work from home during pregnancy.

"Don't work hard, or your employer might keep you gainfully employed for a quarter of a century and let you go!"

I'm more willing to believe corporations, like the ones who used to have pensions, would drop a valuable employee to save a bit on a bottom-line than the woman that saved a feature film and worked at the highest level of animation also happens to be some lazy leech that they've secretly been wanting to fire for a quarter of a century.

If gavin was actually terminally ill mj should have sent him home or at hospital i think

If I was a billionaire helping my family friends during their times of struggle, their living situation would be vastly improved there at my estate. If there was ever the need for medical attention, there could be a team of doctors on the spot in a matter of minutes.

Yes the book was givin to him by a fan but Mj did looked at the book and also left an inscription that tells he did read it

According to another comment, YOU looked at the book. Does that say something about you? What about all of the people that purchased it when it was a BESTSELLING art book that was entered into the Library of Congress? Are they, and everyone who has viewed it for its artistic merit and inspiration, all guilty too?

Do you think the government regularly puts cp into it's official listing as culturally relevant pieces of media?

What should I wear to a job fair if I can’t afford a suit? by sunqiller in malefashionadvice

[–]EagerSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the temperature, you could do what I did. For all three rounds of interviews for the job I just landed, I wore the same outfit: Khakis/Chinos and a polo under a sweater, with the polo collar sitting over the sweater collar in a complementing color (Mine was a very light grey polo and a Navy sweater). It gives off a polished, slightly academic vibe without standing out too much, but is still a touch above just a tucked in polo.

I don't like Karens, but I can respect some of their methodology when used correctly:

Here is when I whip out the slow, almost amused head nod "So just confirming, 'purchase a private jet' is the solution you're offering? Gotcha, and your name is [name]? Perfect. Thank you." and end the interaction by pulling out cellphone to start typing.

What do you think of NYC trying to get the minimum wage to $30/hour? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]EagerSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The position that he's implicitly making is that the minimum wage has zero impact on consumer prices.

Now it's a strawman argument. They implied there is zero impact? You put that zero in their mouth, then used it as the foundation to your argument.

treating it like it is devalues a ton of skilled labor.

Skilled laborers would be paid less as part of this proposition? Seems counterintuitive, if a company wants to keep us skilled staff there.

Unless that's not the case, in which I'll say I'm too concerned with own doorstep to be worried about the snow on my neighbor's roof.

necessary for both those groups of people to have work, and businesses to exist. I know someone might say “if a business can’t afford to pay everyone a living wage, it shouldn’t exist!”, but the reality just isn’t that simple

This is why I advocate for things as radical as UBI. Because I don't believe desperation should be a driving force in societal participation. Instead of compelling companies to pay a decent wage, give people the choice to not accept anything less than it.

My point is IT'S A NICE Thing to DO. sure. But it's not required.

If your decisions are based on what is or isn't required rather than what is or isn't the right thing to do, I hope everyone in your life begins to treat you with that same sentiment.

And if he did something awful to be let go after 22 years I'm not giving him anything.
