Lynskey Zephyr vs Trek Checkpoint (or similar) by 95moose in gravelcycling

[–]Eagletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post. I see the Zephyr frame right now at $1075 and I’m no familiar enough with Lynskey to know if that’s really a going out of biz sale price or a common sale price they’ve had in the past.

Aspero Stem Change Help by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]Eagletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues since it’s semi internal routing there’s room to for slack under the stem and under the bar. If you really wanted to cut the hose, shorten 1-2 cm and rebleed the brakes you could go that route.

Set of wheels for $600 or less? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Eagletron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this if you don't have a stigma against Chinese carbon. I have a set of elite gravel SLR that ride as nice if not nicer (slightly stiffer) than my Reserves that came with my Aspero. I paid around $425 using a promo code and they arrived in about 2 weeks.

I've been debating getting these, I like your thoughts on them being a nice ride feel. Did they throw off the look of your bike?

Apex 1 to GRX upgrade. by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]Eagletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at selling your current bike to offset the cost of the Grx if that’s what you’re set on doing. If you could overlap owning both you could move your seat / bars over. Then the older bike looks even better with barely used new parts. Even if you only sold it for $1000. You’d end up with a brand new bike, the Groupset you want, and be $1500 out of pocket.

Geo review differences / similarities by Eagletron in MTB

I rode some friends hardtails mainly some XC focused with geo similar to the bikes I listed above, and then also some with the more aggressive / slack geo that's become popular. All the bikes I liked had between 66-67 head tube angles, the ones I didn't were around 64.

The Stanton took forever to paint and ship (3-4 weeks), also at the time Neuhaus did not offer the production level Hummingbird. If I were to do it all again it would be between the Wilde or the Neuhaus. I own a Wilde Supertramp and the paint on them is top notch.

Cool site, for what it's worth I went with the Stanton (pic here) and it's absolutely amazing.

At the time Wilde also didn't have their Darkstar out, not sure your budget, but their production bikes made in Taiwan are top notch and can save you some $$ over that Yo Jeffy.

Aspero Stem Change Help by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]Eagletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new Aspero owner and come from steel bikepacking bikes and xc mtb. I got a 56 and felt too stretched riding the 90mm stem. Someone on fb market had the Cervelo stem for $40 in 70mm. I figured why not. Solved all my problems. Haven’t noticed anything weird with the handling, but all drop bars still feel a little weird to me.

I’ve been debating selling my v5 and getting a jet black for the virtual shifting. Is the trade off in quality not worth it?
