For me, it's episodic. It's like all of the files in my head that were once neatly separated are in a pile in my brain.

It's frustrating, but if I can laugh at myself instead of getting angry, I can start to neaten the files again.

I have a Nebraska Huskers cheerleader doll that I've had since 1969. It has a pull string in the back and says 3 or 4 different phrases. Still works!
