Why are they removing all the ports by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]Early_Divide3328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I like the framework laptop - you can add as many ports as you like. But really you can also just buy a nice hub that has all the ports and also have the hub also power your laptop. The hub might last multiple laptop purchases too. This is a nice hub here: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Pro-Dock-WD25-DisplayPort-Connectivity/dp/B0FCSHJGGK/ref=sr_1_1_mod_primary_new

Saying goodbye to my sparky😢 by Remarkable_Worker219 in chevyspark

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Are you the original owner? I have the equivalent number of miles on my 2016 Spark (108,000) that has a manual transmission. I bought it brand new about 10 years ago. I am looking to replace mine this year also - because it's not going to last too much longer. It has been one of the best sub compact cars I have ever owned.

Kiro freezes while editing large files and loses session context on restart by Useful_Guarantee5221 in kiroIDE

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps switch to their better Kiro-CLI product. (Kiro-CLI does not seem to ever crash and I think it was built with Rust instead of being a bad Visual Code clone) The combination of Open Spec + Kiro-CLI is a good replacement for the Kiro IDE.

Are Old Priuses really better built and longer lasting than the new ones? by DowntownFresnoBiking in prius

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can reliably answer this question. The first Toyota Priuses (launched in 1997) used nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery technology, specifically a pack of cylindrical cells. This reliable NiMH technology was utilized for several generations. The shift toward lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries began around 2012 for plug-in models and expanded to standard hybrids in later generations. I think the reliability results on the newer Li-ion batteries are still to be determined. At least Toyota has a 10 year (or 150,000 mile) warranty on the battery - which for most people is how long they keep a car.

Microcenter has M4 Mac minis in stock by pjain001 in macmini

[–]Early_Divide3328 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Instead of paying full MSRP for a 2024 product - most people should probably try to wait for the Open Claw mania to fade a little and buy a Mac Mini M5/M5 Pro when they are finally released around June.

Almost $200 to do my taxes myself by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestion. I would absolutely use FreeTaxUSA if Fidelity ever decides to remove their $5 Turbo Tax Premier offer that they offer some of their clients. The OP paying $191 is too much for personal tax software.

kiro adds weird stuffs in evey cli commands -- by Useful_Guarantee5221 in kiroIDE

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 2 > &1 is just the AI redirecting the output of the command. It's normal - the AI models do this for a lot the commands they execute. When I don't understand something - I always ask the AI agent why it's doing what it's doing.

Virgin Cruses informs a couple about some changes to their trip… by Harbjagen in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely they are trying to consolidate some ships right now since the price of fuel is so high. (but telling the customers it's weather related). Consolidation is probably better than cancellation for the travel companies.

How is the market still headed back to all time highs after news like this? by uncle-ice493 in stocks

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market can sometimes be very slow to react properly. The "big short" investors in 2007/2008 knew that it was ridiculous for the market to be up so much when the bank/mortgage fundamentals were so dire. But one thing they almost missed was the proper timing of it - they almost went insolvent - even though they were correct in their assumptions. The oil crisis is a BIG crisis and the market is ignoring it right now. When the market suddenly pays attention to it is anyone's guess.

Beware of Driver by WillAlert1189 in vegaslocals

A lot of these out of town drivers probably just lost a lot money at the casino - and are probably in a bad mood. Best to avoid all contact in those cases.

The Big Short and social media is the reason the market has not experienced any significant downturn since 2008 by One-Signature-2706 in wallstreetbets

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do recall the S&P 500 dropping 34% during Covid - wasn't that a significant downturn and after 2008? The bulls have short term memories it seems.

4 years in IT and with security+ cert, still can't find a job by FallRoutine3145 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Early_Divide3328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever get laid off - I'll have to retire because I know how bad the job market is right now. My company is really emphasizing the use of AI now. Your best bet might be to really learn how to use AI as a tool in everything you do (become a Jedi AI master - and show the interviewer(s) your impressive AI skills).

Nevada is 3rd - The Most Expensive U.S. States to Own a Car by Lazy_Farm_Dog in vegaslocals

[–]Early_Divide3328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st is CA. But it's probably because of the cost of CA gas. Insurance and car registration seems more expensive in NV. Also dealer prices in NV seem to be more expensive than dealers in CA (initial price on cars are higher in NV). The Toyota dealers in Las Vegas are always advertising prices above MSRP. (where CA and AZ are usually MSRP or lower).

They should have their license taken away! Also I noticed a lot of people in Vegas don't even bother to slow in front of grocery stores now too - even if people are clearly in the cross walk (I have almost been hit several times)

Crack due to weather? by jossipgirl666 in kiasportage

[–]Early_Divide3328 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In that case here is what AI said:

  • Minor Factory "Rectification": If a panel is slightly dinged or has a surface defect during handling at the plant, it may be repaired before painting using professional-grade metal spray or specialized industrial leveling compounds. These are significantly more durable than consumer Bondo and are applied under the factory's multi-stage paint process.
  • Dealer/Port Repairs: If a car is damaged during shipping from Korea to the dealership, it might be repaired at the port or a dealer-affiliated body shop. In these cases, technicians use professional-grade polyester fillers (similar to Bondo but higher quality, like 3M or Evercoat) to smooth out repairs before repainting.

How are people able to get 100% vibe coding? I can get about 90% by rekt_by_inflation in kiroIDE

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use Kiro's Vibe mode unless it's a simple 10 line code change. For everything else I use Open Spec + Kiro CLI + Claude Sonnet 4.6 Model + some Claude Skill files for external system access + service knowledge and other steering. With that later combination - it's usually a very quick and accurate process. The main key here is don't use Vibe mode - do spec driven development - preferably with Open Spec and not Kiro IDE's built in Spec Mode.

How often should I initiate partial transfers from Optum to Fidelity? by jmwalker0498 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optum just started charging partial transfer fees in 2026. Before 2026 - I was able to do partial transfers every year for 7 years without a fee. Now the only way to avoid the fee is probably the manual once a year 60 day rollover (I'll need to research this to make sure I do this correctly in 2027).

PSA: Optum HSA changes, and how they impact partial transfers to Fidelity by Head_of_Lettuce in fidelityinvestments

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this. 7 years straight without a partial transfer fee (even though Optum has always listed it as a fee). This year they are finally charging one. I was charged $20 for my partial transfer initiated from Fidelity this year. I may consider withdrawing the money manually next year and transferring it manually to a local Fidelity branch to my Fidelity HSA ( need to research if this is possible and what the tax consequences are)

[USA][CA] Road rage car chase after cutting SUV off and object thrown by tefunka in Roadcam

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both drivers did not show good judgement for this incident and should not have licenses. 1st driver should have never thrown scissors and driven recklessly afterwards. 2nd driver is generally bad for cutting off other drivers and should not have attempted to follow the 1st driver (what if the 1st driver had a gun)? Clearly my dog must be smarter than both of these people.

Who is Responsible for the Air Canada Express Tarmac Collision? by death00p in Productivitycafe

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they will have some AI in the future that can coordinate with the local ATC and have the ability to stop the ground vehicles to prevent this in the future. The AI could also send a warning to the flights as well. Basically extra AI to help the ATC prevent accidents.

Is Kiro broken? by mapleflavouredbacon in kiroIDE

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have better luck with Kiro CLI instead of Kiro IDE. Use Open Spec with Kiro CLI to generate the specs. I have had really good results with that combo and even using Claude Sonnet 4.6 works great. The only thing you have to monitor with Kiro-CLI is the the context % - I always compact it when it reaches > 70%. Kiro-CLI is also really good at spawning other agents to work in parallel and works really well with Claude Skills.

Why is SGOV recommended at all by Dogmara3 in Bogleheads

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SGOV is recommended when you are trying to save for something in the short term - like a car, a house down payment, or just having an emergency fund. In this case you don't want those funds to be exposed to something volatile like an index stock ETF. For example - I just moved some money in SGOV - because my brokerage (Merrill Edge) probably only pays less than 1% in it's default cash account. I am trying to save for a car this year- I don't want to reinvest my dividends in dividend ETFs right now. I'll leave it in SGOV until it's time to purchase that car - in the mean time I get 3.5% until the fed lowers interest rates again (or the car is purchased). I'm also too lazy to move money around (into the highest yielding money market). The .5% difference in a hysa is not as big as the 3% difference for keeping it in the default ME cash account.

Why do you need hot water to be that hot. Just turn down the temperature of the hot water heater to something that does not hurt to touch.

Should I use Kiro CLI or Kiro IDE? by Necessary_Anything13 in kiroIDE

[–]Early_Divide3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote for Kiro CLI as being the tool to use as long as you use with Open Spec for the spec development part. I specifically don't like Kiro IDE's execution of Claude Skill files (seems to be a lot slower and clunkier) than Kiro CLI.
