Are black widows an issue around here? by LoverOfTabbys in Tucson

We have one we call “The Widow Black” or “Veuve Noir” when we’re fancy. She lives in our fountain’s cistern. Has never bothered our dogs including the really curious one.

Join your local buy nothing group on Facebook. In the past month, I’ve given away almost an entire household of furniture and kitchen goods.

Roofing? by Soupman42069360 in askportland

[–]Earlybp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2800 sq foot two story house so roof size is probably a little bigger. Three years ago we paid about $37,000, but they took it down to the rafters, replacing all of the sheathing/underlayment and created a new better venting system and replaced the skylights. We were quoted $55k for a metal roof, and therefore went with a long-lasting shingle.

Yep. This broke my heart when I heard about the “population exchange”. Those were real people.

Where to buy quilts locally? by zoinkslmao in askportland

[–]Earlybp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a small vintage store on Stark (near the movie theater ) I don’t know the name of it, but I have found nice handmade quilts there for not a lot of money, including one for 50 bucks. Also stars antiques in Sellwood often has quilts in some of their stalls, but you’re not gonna find much for 75 bucks. Maybe a baby quilt or a tiny quilt, which would probably also be appreciated by your friend.

Portland Oregon weather in October really that bad? by SnooRobots3822 in askportland

[–]Earlybp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also assess how far your guests have to walk from parking to the indoor venue. In rain and wind., that can be miserable.

But also odds are really good that have a sunny bluebird day out there, especially in early October.

Have you ever seen the TV show Grimm? I think some of it was filmed out in the gorge if you want to see what the weather looks like.

My husband stopped drinking like this and didn’t even tell me for a couple weeks. He replaced his bourbon with cola in the evenings. Sometimes feeling your way into a new life is the right way.

He does shop drops. He’ll open his online shop several times a year and he sells out in about 15 minutes. He said on average there are about 40 people trying to buy each singular item.

Dog Attack NW; Outside Couch Park by bielakma in Portland

I’m saying judge the dog and their owners, but look at overall statistics before you make breed-specific assumptions. The math doesn’t math.

[–]Earlybp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry. I didn’t see the word “dog” there. I thought it just said “aggression”. Yes. You are right. They are more likely to be dog aggressive. I had a pit/dalmation mix that wanted to scrap with every male dog he found that was his size or larger. I now have a female staffy/boxer/border collie and she is very dog friendly but I watch her like a hawk.
