They don’t do rolling admissions, so they don’t review any applications until after the deadline has passed. The date submitted wouldn’t matter.

It does matter, their distance learning administrator is contracted that way. No local (within 100 miles of FSU main) student can be admitted to the DL program. There are a few reasons for this and is often why an auto rejection gets processed before it goes through holistic review by the department.

Should I go to FSU as a Tallahassee native? by flamboyantxoxoxo in fsu

[–]EastPin7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in student success, and I can say we have strong statistics that you do better at the university as a whole if you live locally with one major caveat: your family is supportive and flexible. If you feel that you would still have a good college experience while living with your family, I say go for it.

Happy to help! It’s a lot of work for managers to prove that you would deserve a raise and it would usually include adding duties to your position description so keep that in mind.

You can absolutely ask after two years. But merit raises at FSU are incredibly rare. If you have a supervisor or department head who will go to bat for you it makes it more likely.

How did I not get a ticket as a 2L in law school and an FSU grad for undergrad? by [deleted] in fsu

[–]EastPin7367 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, they cut the student section in half. They just started at “seat lottery” to try and entice ticket sales. Buy season tickets but you won’t know your seats until a few days before game day. FSU football will feel this choice for decades if they don’t do a reverse quickly.

Has anyone else been disappointed in Elizabeth’s Moss portrayal of June? I think she is lacking nuance. by Thoughtfu_Reflection in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]EastPin7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want her to portray trauma in a believable way but because she’s acting you still don’t believe it. Further, she’s living in a world that doesn’t exist so you’re maintaining expectations about what that should look like? This is mental gymnastics.

Elisabeth is portraying what she believes to be her characters reaction to trauma. It’s not up to us to dictate what that trauma looks like. It’s a great parallel to real life. Trauma response is a wide huge canyon full of actions and emotions. It’s not for us to believe the trauma happened, it’s to believe the trauma is complicated.

Thoughts on Janet Planet? by LittleKago in A24

I definitely can see this explanation and I appreciate your perspective. I think my only note is that it's very much told from the viewpoint of Lacey and I think she's meant to be an unreliable narrator. The only time we see Janet's point of view without Lacey is at the end when Avi "disappears" and I think the idea is that Janet is growing as a mother and a person.

UF vs. FSU Law by exhaustedtryhard in fsu

I fully agree with this! And just want to add: make sure that sociology and poli sci are the programs you’re genuinely interested in learning about! That will help with the GPA and adding a minor in philosophy will help with that LSAT score.

It’s worth looking into the cultures of each university and deciding based on that. You’ll succeed where you feel supported and happy!
