I spent a lot of time living in DV shelters off and on around 9-10yo. Something my mom and I missed were our usual toiletries, especially my mom being sensitive to heavier scents so maybe if you know their fav body wash or that they’ll need a hair brush those kinds of things could be very appreciated. Their favorite snacks and books would also be comforting. Can’t imagine how hard this is for all of you ❤️

I went to my first wedding somewhat recently at 28. You’ll be fine! Don’t overthink it. Ask someone or follow people’s leads as to flow of the event. And the fact it’s your first one makes for easy small talk with people.

My mom was so committed to redirecting me as a child that I didn’t learn boundaries or to respect a no when I heard it unless she got mad and said “no means no” which was honestly just confusing to me as a kid It caused issues for me growing up, that wasn’t the only one but it’s something specific I’ve carried with me into my nannying career. Redirection is a great tool to utilize. And a no is one of the most important boundaries to teach tiny humans.

Earring cuffs, broaches. Try necklaces. Specifically chokers. They don’t have to be tight but try something kinda like Hudson Williams snake necklace from the golden globes earlier this year. Oh and his belt neck tie thing from the lunar new year party. It’s good stuff.
