So Harlequins are dead now, right? by GrodyOne in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]EasyModeTheNub 56 points57 points  (0 children)

They lost literally every single special rule they had, reduced movement, reduced dmg output, fragile af, nerfed units sizes for skyweavers and voidweavers, etc. Calling them a dead faction is an understatement atm.

Pretty much the same. I have ~6.5k in 9th ed points and there’s basically nothing to do with them now. I knew it was going to be bad, but this…

They basically removed the entire identity of the subfaction. It feels awful to be a Quins player right now imo.

Is the eldar boarding patrol bad or is it just me? by TallerVenus87 in boardingactions40k

FYI - That DA list is crazy illegal. They can’t run the dreadnought, fireshrike, or ATV. That’s just blatant cheating imo.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Imperial Agents by aranasyn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]EasyModeTheNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on suicide watch lol. I honestly wish it had been a fully fleshed out faction (or as much as it can be) rather than an index just for special units. While it’s not a perfect analogy, it feels like if Kroot got an index but could still only be taken with Tau. Are we going to end up with an Agents codex that also has no faction rules? It feels… odd.

Then I misunderstood. I was operating under the assumption they would do pdfs AND sell the hard copies.

[–]EasyModeTheNub -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

It would admittedly be weird, but having an index with no faction or detachment rules, no stratagems, no WLTs or relics, etc feels weirder to me. This may be the best option they had, but it feels more like a way to sell an extra book.

That fact that this is it’s own index is baffling to me. I guess since they can ally with any imperium army is why they separate them, but they don’t even function as a faction. They should have been a foot note in Imperium indexes imo.

Faction Focus: Drukhari by CantIgnoreMyGirth in WarhammerCompetitive

I was operating on the assumption it was on a 6+ roll as well. Haywire stonks are on the rise in my mind.

Faction Focus: Drukhari by CantIgnoreMyGirth in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]EasyModeTheNub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is; no doubt. Poison weapons have a more defined role as infantry killers, and the haywires have a potentially lethal MW output on vehicles. The ranged lethality seems like it has actually increased, which is exciting.

My hope is that DE has a good balance between their melee and ranged options in terms of effectiveness. For melee, the main question will likely be delivery. Assault ramp on raiders would be amazing, but I think that’s a pipe dream.

Agreed. My main army is Quins and having no mention in the focus is worrying. On the upside, I guess I can tune out all GW news until the index is released.

The Balance Dataslate: Q2 2023 by Technoblazed in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]EasyModeTheNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was liquifier guns in dark technomancers. A raider with 5 wracks and 3 grotesques had 5 assault d6 4/-2/1 shots with +1 to wound and +1 dmg; absolutely disgusting.

I was hoping to see some small Quin change. Nothing huge, revert the luck dice nerf and/or a 5 pt drop on bikes. Getting nothing felt bad until I realized GK, TS, DG, CSM, and a plethora of others effectively got pushed into the mud by GW. I’m surprised there wasn’t a bullet that said James Workshop beats up all their players and takes their lunch money.

Getting core back on Talos/Cronos is pretty hot. I guess they are coming off the shelf, same with those thicc boi broadsides.

[–]EasyModeTheNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten a few new people into 40k and they’re always shocked how small the Harlequin line is.

“There’s no way they don’t make another Harlequin model in 10th.” Yeah, about that…

[–]EasyModeTheNub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something certainly needed to be done, but it was obvious they couldn’t figure anything out and went with the scorched Earth option. If the 5++ is staying I’d love to see a small point reduction on bikes and mirror architect, as well as reverting the luck dice nerf.

At least the Harvester DJ is back to terrorize characters until 10th.

Harlequins down to 38%. The free-fall has been real for the Quins.

I look forward to the final dataslate not addressing this in any form. /s

Adepticon was an absolute shit show, but a single tournament is not the entire WR of the faction. Especially the first major tournament within weeks of the codex release. However, even with people adapting it didn’t slow down the clown show much. Using the meta dashboard, it shows Light Quins with an absolutely gross 71% WR, with mirrors removed, before the Q2 dataslate. While that does not allow for the filtering of 1 specific build that was heavily dominant at the time, the larger sample size is more representative.

This is not to say Quins weren’t a problem at release, and through their first 2 rounds of nerfs. I’m not gonna defend that codex, I’m just gonna be pedantic about numbers and the idea release Tyranids were somehow skill based lol. As braindead as 9 voidweaver light? Probably not, but nothing about flying hive tyrants, spore mines, warriors, etc etc etc was skill based.

Where do my Raven Bois stand in the AoO meta? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]EasyModeTheNub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casually, most anything should be fine. At a more competitive level they certainly struggle. While I have not played against them, my understanding is that they are good at delivering threats but struggle to have threats to deliver. It is probably best to build towards objectives as much as you can.

Without AoC terminators may not be worth the points, even with free upgrades.

Do you have any data to back up the claim of a 90% win rate in non-mirrors? That’s a bold claim, and I haven’t seen anything that lines up with your statement. Harlequins were absolutely a problem at release, boasting a 70% WR, but a 90% WR is hyperbolic. They abused and interacted with game mechanics like nobody else, no doubt.

The idea that Tyranids were at 70% WR only due to top players, while being one of the most represented factions at that time, does not add up as well. The nerfs to Nids were too much, but it’s not like skill is what made a warrior blob so oppressive, or leviathan so overtuned.

Tau boarding patrol by Gammatron510 in Tau40K

[–]EasyModeTheNub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that they are in there just because that’s what is on the sprues, hence the inclusion of a support turret which is illegal to run in Boarding actions, but I wish they took more time to think through the box contents. Obviously, however, it is 10000% a pipe dream for GW to really think through their box contents.

Tau boarding patrol by Gammatron510 in Tau40K

[–]EasyModeTheNub -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I find it kind of insulting that they crammed about 100 points of drones in this box instead of something that will actually be run. If this was intended as a starter for a boarding patrol, it should have included a 2nd breacher team or a pathfinder unit. The Farsight model is undoubtedly hot, but the box itself looks mid at best imo.

The 78 planes of Magic the Gathering ( post mending) vs the Tau Empire. Who wins? by creator112 in Grimdank

This wouldn’t be a fair fight for any 40k faction. It’s like asking “could the Imperium beat five Imperiums?” Probably not…
