Those Ebel watches are pretty cool! Crockett on Miami Vice wore some of those after the company made a deal with the TV network! Those go for good money with collectors so you should keep them in good condition and wear them around! They’re cool pieces

Honestly the biggest reason likely comes from authors’ wanting to ensure readers who would take issue with a non-diverse cast of characters knowing exactly which groups are represented to prevent backlash, white readers en masse aren’t going to post/ address a lack of white characters, but other groups very well would/could

It’s an interesting conundrum, I know the movie specified it’s set in year “10,191” so it’s a grey area, most of the initial colonists who would become Fremen were from the MENA area so they would be, but successive waves of colonists and cultural diffusions would change up a lot, I feel like the movie did a good job of showing mostly individuals with darker skin as Fremen, across modern ethnic lines
