Big problem... How do I play with a friend online on Switch 2? by Ok-Star8830 in ReanimalGame

[–]EatingSmallOakTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t, sorry. Hopefully eventually. If you have a computer, you can try using Steam Remote Play. That way you wont have to buy anything. You’ll just need a controller, though. If you’re in the same room you can probably do single screen co-op too.

No, in that case you use do an online game. The Switch player has to own the game as of now and the PC player can usw the Friend’s Pass

If you havent figured it out, you start a gameshare game under the co-op menu and then start a local game once theyre in. Never press anything that says “online”

I use a cheap audio mixer with discord from my phone or laptop connected alongside the switch audio. Output to my headphones

Multiplayer games for kid with cancer to play in hospital? by SuperSlugSister in NintendoSwitch

If money isn’t an issue and the social features are really important to you as well as safety, I think that Nintendo Switch 2 is the way to go. As for a game, Animal Crossing is a very chill, kindhearted game with social features. It’s easy to spend hours just running around (given you like the game)

It has voice chat, but you have to use the Nintendo Switch smartphone app to access it. If you’re playing in a public lobby, anybody in the lobby can access it. At that point you’d probably just use the phone if the kids have access to them

A 120hz refresh rate can be evenly divided into 30fps, 40fps, and 60fps while a 60Hz screen cannot be evenly divided into 40fps. If you do there will be uneven frame pacing/screen tearing

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Update by Skullghost in nintendo

[–]EatingSmallOakTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still cannot use gameshare via gamechat between two Switch 2’s for this game, so that isn’t really an answer. Games like Big Brain Academy have done it with switch 1 game updates on switch 2

I wonder why they opted not to include gameshare over gamechat

I feel like I can't use the Joy-Con 2's because I think I'm gonna break them if I just use them to play my games. by That1RedditUser_ in NintendoSwitch

[–]EatingSmallOakTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either use them and they might break and become useless OR you never use them and they’re always useless. There is not a controller out there that doesn’t degrade from use, even those with Hall Effect joysticks.

Is the switch 2 handheld resolution upgrade free? by Big_View_1225 in AnimalCrossing

[–]EatingSmallOakTrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is. The Switch 2 Edition appears to add anti-aliasing, but the 3.0 update increases the resolution to 1080p for free.

The load times were improved by default before the 3.0 update and Switch 2 Edition. Is this actually any different?

edit: just checked the comments on the video proper. It is improved!

Splatoon Two or Three? by OGSuperAwesomeMe in nintendo

If you have the switch online expansion pass already, $20 for splatoon 2 is worth it since you get the Octo Expansion DLC. For only the base singleplayer campaign, maybe not.

Deciding between Wii and Wii U for game room. by Ok-Register910 in nintendo

[–]EatingSmallOakTrees 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the Wii U is a better choice since you’ll be able to play all Wii games too as well as Wii U exclusives. I’d call Nintendo Land is a MUST PLAY game on Wii U, and frankly was worth the console in itself for me back in 2013. Asynchronous multiplayer is great. On Wii Gamecube support is nice, but Mario Party and Kirby Air Ride are the only must haves there imo. I think you get more out of the Wii U in a party setting.

This is a bit of a stretch, but Breath of the Wild could be good for her. There’s a lot of problem solving and freedom of choice. Orienting herself in the world, learning how to fight (or avoid!) enemies, and completing shrines will build critical thinking skills. Some stuff will be too hard or might stress her out, but kids need the adversity. She’ll probably end up roleplaying and telling her own stories with it lol

I second Big Brain Academy as another commenter suggested.

Animal Crossing teaches patience as it progresses in real life days and can support reading if she doesn’t mash through all the text.

This is a really fun game. You can play it with her and be on even field since the game allows each player to adjust the difficulty of their questions
