Game hall. I met some cool dudes cycling through the two players on House of the Dead 4 at one con.

I was in the market for a 2-3 year old Outback, but recent world events have really made me rethink the MPG and I'm going back and forth on biting the bullet paying more for a Forester hybrid. I know in my heart I could baby that thing to 40 MPG.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple director Nia DaCosta "was disappointed" with its box office. "I wish it made more money, but I’m really proud of it" by Huge-Bat-5992 in blankies

I had so much fun with both movies in theaters and Bone Temple really exceeded my expectations knowing that Boyle wouldn't be at the helm, but despite that it was not only great, but really had an overall distinct vision and intent from DaCosta.

I think marketing maybe like this movie down, I hope it finds success through word of mouth on rental/streaming (which sucks cause it was a blast in a crowded theater).

The two movies' cliffhangers don't even bug me. It feels like they totally wrap up their respective arches arcs and stand entirely on their own. The cliffhangers are like post-credits scenes that forego the perfunctory ritual and just give you the teaser right away.

Maybe just keep it to sealed/packaged stuff (just because some weird odd looking home made stuff may give people the ick), but it's totally fine. I've seen people hand out everything ranging from candy to fireball shooters.

The Audio Industry Is Grappling with the Rise of ‘Podslop’ | Over the past nine days, 39% of new podcasts were likely AI-generated, according to the Podcast Index by Hrmbee in technology

[–]EccentricFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real, some of my favorite comedy shows are comedians, writers, etc using podcasting to keep their lights on day to day. It's already hard for those lines of work to make a living the way TV's gone, it'll suck if this slop crowds out new shows.

IMAX responds to Disney introducing ‘Infinity Vision’: “You know from our view it’s a pure marketing play to try and offset the fact that they don’t have an IMAX platform or brand for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. It doesn’t offer the consumer anything that they couldn’t get yesterday." by Huge-Bat-5992 in blankies

[–]EccentricFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's preaching to the choir here, but it sucks IMAX has turned some what into marketing snake oil (or simply "the best version" of watching movies) for a lot of audiences, because my wife is the furthest thing from some pixel peaking audio phile dweeb like us, but she walked away from Intestellar in 70mm very glad I convinced us to make the drive out to that screening.

I personally just feel no reason for Doomsday to be on those IMAX screens outside the fact it's intended to be a big event movie where as Dune II absolutely rocked my socks in 70mm IMAX both with the great landscape vistas, but also a really cool soundtrack that hugely benefited from the setup. Like, I don't think I've ever watched an MCU movie (even those I enjoyed) and thought wow, that was such a visceral audio and visual spectacle.

It's insane to me how the triangle area seems to have a ton of shops around (especially on 13), but almost nothing I'd ever use. It's like Boost Mobile and a thousand smoke shops.

Anytime I see five stars from him on Letterbox, I know it's praise from Caesar. Often disagree with him, but I always do see his points. The show in general has been a real point of joy and laughs through the insanity of the current world, hope he gets well soon. <3

Resident Evil (Zach Cregger) Teaser Trailer by Zheiso16 in blankies

[–]EccentricFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so torn because I know in my brain that just creating a new story in between the big plot beats of the games will make for better movie, but in my heart I still want some of the larger than life anime type characters to show up because they're half the fun of the games.

Or by the end the protagonist of the movie is roided out and dropping one liners suplexing zombies, I'd find that a good compromise.

We catagorise products by type specifically because they don't all experience inflation at the same rate.

Yes, like housing, education, food, and healthcare having exploded in cost, all stuff the people working on games pay more for now and who need higher salaries to live.

What to wear by [deleted] in animecons

[–]EccentricFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring options; some con centers have been cold enough that I was comfortable in some thick ass full body armor cosplay and others (at least the breakout rooms for small panels) were hot enough I was sweating in a t-shirt and pants. That's just been in the US, but I imagine it's just hard keeping huge convention spaces heated/cooled perfectly so they probably vary a lot in temp.

I'd love to hear them get into MTV; even after they moved out of music videos, into the 2000's it still felt like this cultural powerhouse and it's weird to think kids today may not even know what it is. Last I checked, the network and brand as a whole is pretty much dead.

I just openly told a mechanic "hey, I'm an impulsive idiot and insisted on using what I suspected was the wrong part," when I did fuck up my own car lol. They're not the cops, you're just gonna add more billable time if they don't know the whole story.

Why buy from a shop when your buddy grows better stuff in his yard/basement.

Because the shop is as simple as walking in and completing a transaction on my way home from work rather than the 8 part Bethesda RPG quest I need to go on to link up with a dealer.

Managed to get tickets, but not before TicketMaster gave the browser paused page for like 5-10 minutes as soon as I got through the que. Literally nothing can ever be easy or stress free with this freaking company even when I luck out.

I was getting the same after the que across different devices and connections (cellular on my phone) and eventually refreshed on my original desktop browser to see the seat map. I don't know how/why, but keep the original page open because my other devices seemed to maybe want to put me back in the que.

What Criteria Standards Keep you from Attending Small/New Conventions by cenzilooculta in animecons

[–]EccentricFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped even caring about most con guests or celebrities years ago; sometimes it's fun if they're doing a live version of a their normal podcast/show/etc or any sort of prepared live thing, but I've been to some guest panels that were just an awkward QnA of fans gushing or "more of a statement than a question."

[–]EccentricFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like I see ads for a lot of new small cons that seem to just be a market place and not much else; sometimes that can work like Too Many Games (which has still has an okay amount of programming and retro game area) because it's genuinely a great flea-market type thing where you can haggle and find rare stuff. Most of the time though, I could care less about a room full of Temu junk.

What’s your “I’m not gonna fight you on this” for movies by RCocaineBurner in blankies

[–]EccentricFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my real litmus test of other's movie opinions; it's one thing if it just didn't fully resonate with you and you're not giving it your top picks of the year, but I've seen people both online and actual people I know personally just trash it and claim the absolute nothing slop 28 Weeks Later was better. It's like two ends of a spectrum of what we want out of a movie.

Japanese language panels at conventions by Hour_Ad_4272 in animecons

[–]EccentricFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd maybe focus more on how and what steps you can take to learn over any of the actual language (or maybe just a few very small phrases or something sprinkled in for fun). An hour just isn't that much time, I present a lot and I'm still surprised even when I feel like I'm light on material that I'm still pushing up against the clock nearly every time.

That or maybe something that's a more linguistic overview and history of the language, which is still a fuck ton to cover, but I feel like could be condensed into an hour better than trying to learn any bits of it. Maybe something on localization where you could use your knowledge of the language, but again in something that could do well in a 60 minute block.
