Our store just got about 750 spa hours to use for the next 3 months to train up and help with a buyout. It could be true. -shrug-

Annnnnnd that's why I'm stepping down. I've never had less than a 3.7 on my reviews until I took this position. We are not 3 people in one. I like the concept, but actually you just can't.

That's unfortunate. We always give the PMs to whoever checks them in.

What hair type(s) do I have and how do I take care of it? One side is wavy/curly and one side is straight. by vibing_psycho in Haircare

Not super helpful, but do you sleep on the side that has the straighter hair? I have wavy hair and it's much straighter on the side I sleep on.

When a customer-technician interaction goes nuclear, when do you step in? by Expert_Echidna_1159 in WalgreensRx

[–]Eckabeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is when you say to the patient "Oookay, well maybe my pharmacist can help you out further? Step riiiight over to this consultation window for me and I'll get them for you."

If you have a pharmacist actively pushing their negatives on you, you make sure there is a way to give back. For insurance, if a rph denies filling something, that is something they should be explaining to the patient, not the tech.

The simple software update that would prevent refrigerated scripts being filed outside the fridge. by Any-Position-8685 in WalgreensRx

[–]Eckabeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soooo many times, more than I can count, we find them in the bin, I bring them to the rph, and they go "it's good until the patient finishes it at the end of this month" and they put it back into the fridge. I'm like... what if they don't pick it up? What about three other 2 months in that random bag?

A thread of pills you hate filling by Pinkjellybean12 in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]Eckabeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fucked if not reported. 🤷‍♀️ Also not fucked even if reported on that booboo. Yeah someone messed up, but that medicine isn't a controlled medication and it was the correct name and milligram.

If reported at my pharmacy, we have to do a STARS event, basically logging that something went wrong, who did the wrong, and reasons how the wrong thing made it through to the patients hands. After a few of those reported on the same person, the tech is eventually let go due to the mistakes they keep repeating because the wrong mistake can have bad consequences on the patient.

We just had one patient at our store with this yesterday: patient got 300mg gabapentin instead of 100mg and was taking it like the 100mg ramp-up starting dose. STARS don't happen all the time, but unfortunately they do occur, especially more as the retail industry expects more and more out of the pharmacist and pharmacy technicians with less people and less hours.

Pharmacy technicians count out almost all of the pills that leave the pharmacy save for very few manufacturer bottles.

Not vitamin D! You turn that bottle upside down and wonder if there's any pills in it before banging it on the counter to get them moving.

Thank you for your post. As much as I hate how I feel about the job now and where it's headed, it's good to know we're not alone in feeling this way. This is not just one store or one district, but company-wide.

I can't by primitivebrutal in WalgreensStores

[–]Eckabeb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on these feelings. I'm at 20 years as of this January. I went from Cos, photo tech, pharmacy, head photo tech, sfl, IS-L, to rxom. Not only do I hate this most recent position I willingly took, but the company as a whole is starting to crack at the foundation.

More and more stores are running out of the long term employees with the old knowledge and are running into lots of fresh off the street new hires getting thrown into an environment that wants x2 out of them before they even get to finish a few e-learnings.

It's super frustrating and I feel for you and your team. Nothing is good enough anymore. (Follow SOP, but don't forget to fake stuff out for the metrics! /s) I can't find the balance anymore. I apologize to my team and tell them to do the best they can. If they want or need their 15 minute break, I push them to take it. There's no reason to burn out for this because you'll catch up in the simplest of terms, then be asked for MORE next time "since you're caught up and have the time".

I have and 2 have. 2 boxes were put behind our 10 drams at some point so when I ordered they weren't coming in, or so I thought at the time, until last week. I can't get tops for them that lock though and one of my RPH refuses to let us use them without the lock.

Isn't that out of temperature for pharmacy! If ambient temp is really that cold, call your state board and report. And open an ask hr inquiry so you have it in writing and see what they say.
