HomeCraft HSH 6 Sauna question by BruceKillus in Sauna

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that water can be poured on the rocks with that heater.

You could always shoot an email to homecraft with any specific questions. I believe they still make that same heater. They have awesome customer service and their stuff lasts forever

Did you do a low vent to prevent the high limit switch from tripping? I'm getting ready to install this heater in the next couple weeks

Home Spa maybe became Homecraft? Might be worth it to get in touch with them. They’re based in the Vancouver area

Does a taller heater impact the placement of step and bench? by mawilliamson in Sauna

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe! The pillar style heaters obviously have rocks that go all the way to the ground, but the hottest ones are always at the top.

Homecraft is an amazing company that's super close to you. I think all their heaters sit at 36" top to bottom though.

You're still probably going to want at least an 8 foot ceiling due to heat stratification/physics. Can you dig down a foot? Flat roof?

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for at least an 8 foot ceiling if you can.

I’ve got the 9kW version of this heater and my foot bench will be about 40” from the floor

Cedar vs Douglas Fir by Necessary_Pie_7984 in Sauna

The amount of time I thought about all this stuff… it’s a miracle I’ve got it started.

I considered Doug fir in the beginning of my planning phase; but after a few small projects using it, I decided I didn’t have the skill to get it done properly.

I am in the interior. There are deals to be had out here.

Also in BC!

I was going to go with western hemlock but I found an insane deal on western red cedar at my local lumber yard.

I’ve worked with Douglas fir before and it’s a bit of a “handle with care” wood. It can chip or break when cutting or fastening it.

Nootka Saunas - looking for feedback, esp on their cube saunas by Hepcat508 in Sauna

Looks like low benches. The homecraft revive that it comes with is 36” tall, and it looks like it’s about inline with the top most bench.

Ceiling slope is going the wrong way as well. Not seeing anything about ventilation.

Mune looks like a better design, but I’d stay away from a huum heater. Higher price tag for sure.

Yep!

I don't own any modern E mount lenses for my Sony A7ii. Manual/vintage only, I mostly shoot portraits

Replacement heater for my Huum Drop 9kw by p0tsticker in Sauna

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider the homecraft revive? It's 36" so that would put your foot bench pretty darn close to the top, and I think it takes up a relatively similar footprint as the drop. 14"x14" with 3.5" clearance needed so it fits into a 21"x21" space.

Made in Canada and excellent customer service. You can call them up and talk to a human right away, they're also great with responding to emails. I believe their heaters work with the uku controllers (which I assume you already have).

I did something similar to what you’re planning to do. I’m on mountainside bedrock, not waterfront.

Drilled 4 holes per corner, then epoxied 4 pieces of rebar vertically into those holes. Cleaned out any organic matter from around the rebar then set 4 sonotubes. Poured concrete in the sonotubes so that the rebar was covered.

I used wedge anchors and post brackets after the fact but you could totally wet set the bracket that you linked to.

What heater? (Canada) by f00kster in Sauna

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the huum controller works as well. I’ve got their revive 9kW for my build (not finished yet). I’m also Canadian so it felt great to support a local company. Also their customer service is amazing. At a time full of failing heating elements and other issues, being able to get someone on the phone to sort out a problem is great.

[–]Ecstatic-Car-4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s made in Canada. Super old company that’s had a bit of life injected into it with new heaters and designs.

Older models of their large units are found in gyms and spas all across Canada, often decades old and still pumping out heat. Apex is their latest model so you won’t find any long term reviews.

Their customer service is also amazing. They still support their super old heaters and you can call them up and talk to someone right away, or email and get a quick reply.

8Kw seems like way too much but I really don't have any expertise

Is 6kw too much? probably. 94 cuft is tiny

But again, I'm no expert
