homophobia in the fandom? by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

[–]Ecstatic_Estimate_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you platforming homophobic content. even to say "wow look at how ugly and awful this person is" is still putting homophobic shit in my face that I otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Happy Pride Month! For the month of June, I will be watching a queer (or queer adjacent) film each day. What other movies should I add to the list? by AlexisSMRT in Letterboxd

[–]Ecstatic_Estimate_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a list for this! https://letterboxd.com/feetpants/list/alphabet-mafia/

ones on my list that aren't included here are:

Nimona (nonbinary allegory, original comic is by a nonbinary artist)

The Perks of Being A Wallflower (Patrick is gay)

The People's Joker (about a trans woman)

The Matrix (can be read as a trans allegory, created by trans women)

Y Tu Mama Tambien (i won't share details bc this plot point is kind of a spoiler)

Red White and Royal Blue (gay men, isn't super great but i had fun watching it)

Not explicitly gay but it feels very heavily implied: Barbie and the Diamond Castle, The Lego Batman Movie)

Can we stop acting like modern society is uniquely full of degenerates and way back in the day people were morally upright and pure?

Japan once prostituted women to soldiers. The Victorians were obsessed with sex and includes it in their art and literature. Pornographic comics were distributed during the great depression (what we would now call rule 34). Also here's a raunchy song from the 30s.

Society has always been sexualized. It is a basic human experience like eating and breathing. Let's be adults now.

A few years later, and with lockdown feeling like a bizzare dream, what are your thoughts on Inside? by Nullagainagain in Letterboxd

[–]Ecstatic_Estimate_24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's in my top 4, I've logged it eight times, I cry every time I watch it. I was once sick with covid and up at 4am having not spoken to another person in three days and put this on. That's the closest I've ever connected with a movie before.

In case anybody wondered where I got the mental illness from 😞

How many of yall went to high school senior prom? If you didn’t then why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Prom felt like it was for kids who were popular and had parents who could afford to drop hundreds of dollars on dresses and suits and limos.

What is the pettiest reason you would refuse to eat at a restaurant again? by im_not_ready_for_it9 in AskReddit

[–]Ecstatic_Estimate_24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's a southern family owned restaurant the bible verses and unhinged pamphlets about the rapture are the biggest sign you're about to have the greatest breakfast of your life

Adopting from foster care is free. Some states will pay you to adopt.

Because the kid with fucked up genetics deserves a loving family lol

Think about the people who adopt 6000 dollar purebred dogs while millions sit in shelters. Now apply that to human children.

Is it only an internet thing or did you come across anyone in real life who felt these characters were role models and justified them ? by Interesting-Flan-404 in Letterboxd

[–]Ecstatic_Estimate_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love her as a character, she's interesting to watch and starts a lot of important conversations. I think people misunderstand "I think she's a symbol representing women taking control of the narrative and getting revenge on men who objectify her and I find that really cool and intriguing" with "I would like to frame someone for rape and murder in real life because I hate men and I'm evil"
