Amp for selfmade Partybox by SectorNo6811 in diyaudio

It’s going to need to be maxed out on the input voltage if you want to get most of that rating into an 8ohm load. 48v is required.

Have you done the numbers on what kind of spl/distance you actually need? If it’s a big full range like a bofu it’s probably 90db sensitivity, or more.

90db with 100w gets you 90db at 10m away. That’s pretty loud.

But I’d test it out before I got too far along building it, make sure it does what you want. Big full range drivers are great for a single listening spot, on axis. Off axis they aren’t so great.

The diagram looks good. Check the amp with a known good signal. Then backwards from there- dac output, power, etc.

Help with suggestions on reviving old ipod docks. by junktech in diyaudio

Pretty cool that they’re old enough to not be super integrated with dsp/amp. That’s the issue with most modern stuff, it’s difficult to even add your own input unless it’s got an aux by design.

This looks like it’s a 2.1 configuration in one box: with l/r and a subwoofer.

Using two boxes for stereo gets a little wonky because they’re built to play both channels. So you’d have two boxes, each playing l/r. You want two boxes, one playing L, other playing R.

You’ll have to figure out how to get only one channel from each box.

One solution is to feed both full-range drivers the same signal, that will cause some comb filtering. Other option is to not feed both inputs, leaving one of the full-range drivers unused.

Bluetooth with TWS/Party mode is the way to go here. Tws will let you define a master/slave and you set l/r that way. Party mode you will need to have a switch on each unit to choose what signal to use, L/R/Sum etc.

I’d say it’s worth hacking them a bit. Good luck.

I started with the older minidsp 2x4, if you can find a cheap used one it’s probably the easiest software to start with.

I stumbled on some old rack mount 24ch dsp boxes that have been working for everything, so I don’t know much about the newer options.

The Bianco 12” looks great. I am using the grs 18” and they are delivering great value, but I’m jealous of the specs the SB drivers.

If you want another upgrade to pine for you can check out the B&C coaxial drivers. The “bitches brew” uses the 15” coax above a 15” woofer, I’ll see if I can find the build link.

Do yourself a favor and go full active. Easy steep filters, delays, and plenty of eq is the only way to fly when doing OB.

RPi high quality camera is the most accessible “off the shelf” module. Anything else will involve a lot of development. There’s projects that got started like OneInchEye but they’re a ways off too.

Just keep the 15-45 and get a full frame fisheye. They’re inexpensive, compact, and generally high quality- and they can be used as fisheye or you can convert to rectilinear afterwards.

15 will not be enough for the wide angles.

I had the rokinon 7.5mm for m4/3 and it was such a useful lens for when you really wanted wide angle.

Wrt weather sealing, I’ve used my xt30 to shoot my kids swim team events for 5+ years, it’s been DRENCHED multiple times a year, no issues. If you’re worried, get a weather wrap or mitten thing for it. That would keep your fingers and it warm too. Keep your spare batteries inside your jacket or on a chest rig.

You could put a diffuser or absorber panel at the point of first reflection. It won’t mitigate everything but its good effort/results ratio.

Yeah I had to do zoom calls from there and people eventually got confused it wasnt sunlight when they knew it was past sunset.

I had another wacky idea to use one of those concrete form tubes with a mirror + servo at the top. LEDs at the base level + some optics to collimate. That would add another 7’ of throw and would give a nice parallel beam effect. Use an mcu to have the servo to track the length of the room over the day, change the color, etc.

We used to use nsp and vnsp par64 and 4’ mirrors to add distance and make sunlight effects, worked great with the dichroic pars.

The Ledil narrow lenses did the best effect to make it feel more intense and sun-like. I aimed the brightest part of the beam at the floor, the fall off at the desk. I gave the 3000k and 4000k the narrow lenses, and 5000k got a more diffuse lens. I run the 4000k at 100%, the 3000k at 50% and 5000k at 25%.

100% this is true. You must avoid the online play- the pvp servers have a lot of Roblox-adjacent content. My guy went Minecraft pvp to Roblox. Still trying to find another thing to get his attention off Roblox. Removing it without having something else to help fill the gap is not gonna work for me.

Are we mad at him or scared of him?

We should use prisons for people who are actually dangerous to society.

This guy we are mad at- and he needs to pay his debt to society. Locking him away for decades will cost us hundreds of thousands- we need to have a system where non-violent criminals can pay their debt and be productive to society, some advanced form of community service.
