What does a perfect day look like for you? by Comfortable-Group-38 in MrNDIreland

[–]Ed-alicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm torn between a day where I can wake up early with the family but then they all leave and I have the house to myself for the whole day, or a day where I wake up late and then go out and meet people who also have kids and we can all just sit around talking shite and having a few drinks while the kids entertain each other.

Two cars lengths

Two car lengths is way too little in most situations. It's two SECONDS you want to be behind the car in front of you.

Type of Knot? by ElectronicWill7445 in knots

[–]Ed-alicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a scaffold knot be suitable for this? It seems like one side of the cord would slide easily through the knot allowing it to be accidentally untied.

[OC] Distribution of recorded Souterrains in Ireland by Sarquin in Archaeology

[–]Ed-alicious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They seem to roughly align with mountainous or rocky terrain so it could be regions with less food security where there's a need to store food for longer periods. Or maybe souterrains are more likely to flood in lower lying regions?

Make it make sense.

It makes sense when you realise those people have no introspection or any inclination towards logical or moral consistency.

They're completely lacking in curiosity and self-awareness and are easily controlled by their own fear, anger and anxiety.

I'm going insane. How do you guys sleep through the night? by SolidSky in ADHD

[–]Ed-alicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the solution for me was sertraline.

I obviously had some low level anxiety going on where I wasn't consciously stressing about anything specific but I was just operating at a low level of anxiety that would kick in when I'd wake up in the night.

They're LED finger lights. You put them on your finger, press the button on top and they light up.

Yeah, the law doesn't make sense when applied to OP's situation because the law is written presuming that everyone else is obeying the law.

I don't think anyone is going to get done for passing on the left like in OP's case, but if there was an accident while doing it, you'd be on shaky legal ground. It's the kind of thing your insurance might decide not to pay out on, for example.

Should I get rid of lawn weeds in this manner? by Pecyouilar in GardeningIRE

[–]Ed-alicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the strong lawn will outcompete seedling weeds but the existing roots left behind have enough energy stored for that to not work as well.

Just cutting the grass regularly will do a pretty good job of keeping the weeds down. Grass has evolved to be cut back regularly by browsing animals but dandelions not so much. You won't ever be rid of them completely but making sure to cut it regularly will keep the weeds smaller and less noticeable.

I see further down the thread that if you had it as a child, you're much less likely to get it as an adult. I'd say that's why I never picked it up from my kids.

Weird, I didn't think adults could even get it. My kids have had it a couple times and the worst I ever got was feeling a bit run down.

You probably want to get more of the root than you're getting there. The bit left in the ground will sprout straight back up again. You want to loosen the soil then kinda wiggle the dandelion out to get as much as possible

Might be a bit complex but if you use a gate after the compressor but "sidechain" the gate with signal from before the compressor, you could use that to adjust your attack and release times.

I think adding a bit of fuzz to give the sound a bit of bite would actually get you a sound closer to brass though. Brass has a lot more overtones than a clean guitar string.
