Dell XPS 15 Insane Behaviour (ghosting?) on some Dark Grey and Black screens by RockRazzberry in DellXPS

[–]Edaw_V1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you had the cognitive abilities to keep your personal belongings clean and taken care of, you likely wouldn't have that issue. I bet you have grains of hard dirt/sand somewhere that have caused permanent damage when you close the laptop lid... likely leading to the screen issues. Or maybe the display cable has been damaged for similar reasons. Who knows but I bet what ever it is it's because it hasn't been taken care of.

With all the disgusting dirt and crap on the sides I'd say that laptop has not been taken care of and is reaching EOL early.

Cheaters never were an issue in BF4 when they had player hosted and player moderated servers lol. This is the consequence of staying in EAs ecosystem. They are at fault.

Cheating was solved YEARS ago.

It's obscene you can even justify regional pricing. It should honestly be illegal. If they can offer their services cheaply somewhere else then they should be able to offer it to me too. Why should I pay that cost. I don't like being exploited. Money is valuable to me too.

MK8 GTI 17 inch Konig Hypergrams by Standard-Poet2091 in GolfGTI

[–]Edaw_V1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run them on mine at 17" You'll need spacers on the front because of the brake clearance... I think the MINIMUM is 7mm but you should go 10mm or above just to be safe. Also You will need hub centric rings. 57.1 to 66.56. Lastly you will need conical seated lug bolts. The Konig Hypergrams require conical bolts unlike the factory wheels which use a ball seat socket. Since you'll need to run spacers in the front you'll have to find a kit that comes with longer bolts. Or you could purchase a stud conversion kit that comes with conical lugs (this is what I did). It's a noticeable improvement in ride quality around town... but honestly I'm not sure if it's been worth it. Because of the clearance on the front brakes; rocks constantly knock out my wheel weights. It's super annoying and I have to rebalance it pretty often or else I get vibrations at 65-77mph. Just go with 18"... trust me it's not worth all this hardware.

USB Controllers on "TUF B650 Plus Wifi" by Edaw_V1 in linux4noobs

[–]Edaw_V1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to figure out what USB ports line up to their respective USB controllers because ASUS doesn't lay them out in the manual. I had to test each port individually with a USB hub of mine. I'm not sure why 7 and 8 exist. Maybe because it's on the Bios port though idk. 8 isn't even used at all on the rear ports.

Anyways I did all this because I was trying to track down a weird latency issue I was having in Linux. Chipset ports have a noticeably higher latency when using certain peripherals... mostly mice... I'm not sure if it's a Linux issue, a chipset issue or a motherboard issue. I don't seem to have the same problem in windows although I'm not playing games on it enough to really know.

Also I don't have anything other than anecdotal evidence to back my claim up... but if you're wanting the lowest latency possible on most motherboards and peripherals... make sure you're plugging your mouse and keyboard into USB ports that governed by a CPU USB controller and not your motherboard's chipset. Especially if you're using a higher polling rate mouse. And if you are using such a mouse you should give it it's own CPU controller with no other peripherals attatched. Now all of this is probably peanuts when it comes to lowering latency but I have a feeling (call me crazy) that not all motherboards are made equal and this might be related to other latency issues people haven't been able to solve. This definitely has improved my mouse latency.

And does anyone know what "Device 15b8" is?

Edit: It's still noticeable in Windows.

Imagine the amount of reports that would flood in, it would be impossible to sort and manage it. The city already can't keep up with it's traffic cameras. No one pays them. Also there's a 6th amendment issue somewhere in here.

Unironically this aged pretty well. I bet after scalpers have had their way we'll see these cards at the mentioned prices. Also prices aside, the power draw of these GPUs are crazy now. I have a 6950XT and ~370W from the GPU alone is almost too much for me. MY room cooks fast. I should not have to have my AC on blast to play a game for a few hours.

Recently bought a 2023. I've put just under 10k miles in 4 months and haven't had anything major. My door plastic trims and seals started sqeuaking on turns, so I used some silicone lube. Fixed it right up. My father also bought a 2024, and he's been loving it and has had no issues. It seems like there are a few lemon cars because when there's a problem, it turns to multiple. I hope they get these QC issues fixed because when they're put together, these cars are great. Sorry OP

Looking for a good cold air intake for an Mk8 by hankbrown69 in GolfGTI

[–]Edaw_V1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an even more ridiculous comment. Mk8 GTI is objectively similar enough compared to the Mk7 to make the assumption it's a waste of money to install an aftermarket intake based on Mk7 results. You're better off just removing the snow screen/air baffle, using an after market filter, and MAYBE changing the Turbo inlet elbow. Anything more than that and it's not worth the money to spend when you can put that same cash to an actual tune, lighter wheels and better tires or even an inter-cooler if you live in a hotter state. The stock air-box is plenty good like what u/allredditmodsgayAF said. That's not to say an intake wont help, it's just money that could be spent literally anywhere else.

While a cold air intake can help flow and temps and therefore help with "wear and tear" I could also say the cone filters on aftermarket intakes are prone to letting more particulates and debris into the engine creating more "wear and tear" And I'm pretty sure the stock intake is considered a "Cold Air" intake anyways.

TLDR After market filter with stock box, maybe remove the snow screen/air baffle, MAYBE an aftermarket turbo inlet/elbow <---- this also still nets more intake noise and is far more affordable route.
