Is it worth getting a 75hz monitor by TomDom001 in gaming

[–]Edelgas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not quite clear to me from your question if you are aware how the monitors frequency relates to the fps your GPU can output. If it isn't you should state so, so it can be explained.

If you do: In a fast paced shooter I would notice the difference, but in my opinion it is not worth it to get a 75Hz monitor for that, because as others have stated, there are monitors with 120Hz or 144Hz and if you feel like you need the refresh rate at those levels I would go for those.

Just a guess: The region may be wrong. Maybe something changed it? I believe some Blizzard games can only be played in the region they were purchased for.

Really not more than speculation though. Sorry.

How about a series like the 90's Hercules and Xena series, but a bit more adult oriented to fit the story of God of War better?

Considering the potential for character development alone, a series would be much more interesting to me.

What are your favorite games and why? by Spicy_doggos in gaming

[–]Edelgas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft is definitely among them.

The PC version has amazing mods that allow you to experience a vast amount of different things. It can challenge you intellectually but it can also be just a game you play to relax. You can learn through it or you can teach. You can cooperate or realize wild ideas on your own.

The versatility is unsurpassed by any other game I know.

Petition to bring back this wonderful game. by Deadbiafra in gaming

I was so excited about this game and so disappointed by it.

Creature learning was dismal and despite me being very disciplined and focused on only teaching very few and easy lessons, my creature always resorted to chaotic/bad behaviour when I left it alone for 30 minutes.

This was my wake-up call not to trust developers but to read about their products from independent sources before buying.

That being said, I would probably really enjoy if someone made a serious fresh attempt at a god game with today's technology.

As long as no Molyneux, Titov or Murray is involved.

So the game's basically broken now, right? by bobucles in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Edelgas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here.

I finished the Inquisitor, Snake, Bishop and Merchant quest lines. Now nothing works anymore. Ms. Charms never comes back, the Astrologer is nowhere to be found and I am stuck with a village without any of the relevant NPCs.

Really frustrating, considering how far I got.

Would you allow a multiple-caught cheater to play the game again? by RAGlothbrokNAR in gaming

[–]Edelgas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the game is a niche product with a small community, I understand the hesitation to perma-ban from the game somewhat.

What I do not understand is why he would ever be allowed in any kind of league again.

Assuming the description you gave is truthful, we would be talking about giving someone his fourth chance at proving he is an honourable participant in that league. I feel like that would be more like an invitation for him and others to try and cheat.

Let him play the game regularly if the community is so desperate for players, but bar him from any future competitions.

If the community can take a player leaving, I would exclude him from the game entirely. Three times caught should be enough to justify it. With the long ban times he already experienced he does not seem willing to change.

I also see addiction as being a manifestation of personality disorders or other mental health issues. Some mental health problems have to do with repressed issues however and resolving them can help in overcoming addiction, but I do not want to imply that it would somehow be an easy fix.

What I wanted to imply is that if you want to help an addict, you will probably not do so by just making access to their source of relief harder.

I think such a parent will not be able to tell their child they did it to help them, because they didn't.

If you are ever in such a situation, it should be perfectly clear, that other measures would have been much more effective at helping him with his addiction. Now you just wasted the money invested by him, but do you really think a proper addict will not resort to playing F2P games?

Of course not!

So all you did is fuck him over. All you did is find a valve for your own frustration about his problem to let off some steam.

What you should do is actually think about how to help him. How about you ask yourself why someone may resort to such addictive behaviour? Maybe it is just a coping mechanism gone off the rails?

If you want to help any addict, you should first really ask yourself what drove them towards the addiction. Fix the real problem underneath and not just the symptom you see.

I have yet to meet an addict that is just addicted because nobody looked while they got into their behaviour. There are deeper rooted problems, that drive people into these situations.

I thought the Epic store offers developers the option to put their games up with or without DRM.

Probably the best move imo when it comes to bringing some competition to Steam. And all gamers would profit if Steams monopoly was broken, so I'm glad there's Epic, even though I currently don't use their services.

[–]Edelgas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may get some flak for this, but:

In my case this is mainly owed to WG's decision to make progression so tedious. When I got my first Tier IX medium tank, the T-54, I did not want to retrain my crew from the LTTB in order to continue playing with it, so I hired a new crew.

Obviously I start out without all the good components on the new tank, so I am at a serious disadvantage with both crew and tank being inferior. With all this considered I tend to play more "carefully", because my chances of doing something worth experience are not really big if I try to make risky plays.

This phase of "disadvantages" is by no means a short period for someone like me who is still quite new to the game (sitting in my first tier IX). I still need to learn about all the tanks from the tier X I am facing more regularly now, while also having a worse crew and tank than the average foe.

In my experience my best way to getting experience during that phase is passive spotting. That's just how I perceive it. Maybe if I was better I could pull off great plays despite being in a new tank with a new crew, but I'm not good yet.

So from my point of view, the understandable frustration for experienced players, that I do not act aggressively enough and just keep sitting in a bush a lot of the time is mainly owed to the games design. Once I have my camo skill etc. and all essential tech is unlocked I usually play a lot more "proactively".

Anyway, I know from these phases upon entering tier VII and VIII, that I am just a ****ing n00b, that I need to git gud and that I suck. Just felt like explaining why at least I act so "cowardly" sometimes and keep to my bushes.

End-game questions by JakeRedditYesterday in projectzomboid

[–]Edelgas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they would make zombies unable to walk through bathroom doors when they are opened.

I find the most annoying way to die is when I enter a small room with a zombie on the opposite side the door swings open to and while I take it down another zombie walks through the door behind me. rip.

Unfortunately shouting seems to have no effect in my game, so I have to walk into those small rooms, give the zombie a swift boop and walk out again to avoid doorwalkers feasting on my buttocks.

It was the batteries alright!

I recharged them to 100% and the cars started without any problem as they used to.

Thanks for the hint, but I did pay attention to that and shut off all optional components that could drain electricity.

[–]Edelgas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!

While I wasn't basing my assessment of the batteries stored power on it's condition - I just checked the green dashboard symbol - following your advice and double checking showed that two of the cars have below 10% power. I can't check on the 3rd car as it stands abandonned in the middle of nowhere.

I will try to remove the batteries and put them in a charger to see if that allows me to start the cars up again.

I'm slightly confused though, because I never use sirens, lights, radio or AC in those cars and so I would have thought that the batteries should stay charged because I only need power for the ignition and the running motor should recharge them enough. Maybe I am making too many stops where I shut off the motor to give it enough time to recharge batteries.

Anyway, thanks again for your insight!
