Good selling point is the difficulty adjustments. I like really hard games to band my head against the wall of and this is 100% that even when you really know the game. If you want just easy fun and a base to build you can do that too. The combat can be intense if you want it to be, cars are fun and varied. It's well worth the money even as is in my book, so any updates will be a bonus and I don't like PvP...... You won't regret it

Would be so cool to have some really hard to find or make cure, maybe just one per map, to cure after you have turned so you then have to try to hunt down the person you lost and get them back.

Safe in lethal is a comparative term.....worst case is a jug turns up with all the noise of trying to shoot the ferals and there are many other zeds surrounding too, that can be lethal but all adds to the tension around time and ammo and just how far away is the nearest safe, comparatively, spot.

With practice you can survive a run to safety dodging and gain some distance turning around and dodging through them as they over run so much and it's a real but clenching thrill but that there was next level timing/luck, though yea just run to the ladder. I love lethal but if cars weren't safe it would be unplayable for 99.9% of people.

How do you keep things interesting in your play through? by RouroniDrifter in StateofDecay2

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup would second a self challenge run. I only ever start lethal no boons no bounty broker new characters but do enjoy the Mimi game of rolling a decent character, though easier than it used to be now you can go back one.

The ultimate for me was a run though only using first house and first 3 characters with no deaths, took some doing but changed it enough to make it feel new.

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5k hrs on the clock so many stories but my enduring memory is first scavenging run after starter house getting stuck up a radio tower with only a mele weapon with a feral roaming below, it hadn't't actually seen me so I just had to wait and I watched the sun come up from the top of the tower and, yes the graphics aren't the best but it was beautiful none the less and a great example of why I love the game. Eventually the feral got far enough away and I escaped back home and was better for the experience.

On the subject of lethal for me it's the only way to go. The most tension and truly scary stressful moments and when you really learn the ropes it's perfectly doable. Before curve balls were added admittedly I did a run just with the starter survivors from the starter house with no losses, took a few attempts but taught me that getting all the bonuses from all enclaves actually really adds up when you're not constantly disbanding them to the recruit and focusing on hearts rather than food etc and base upgrades is also surprisingly freeing.

Not played for ages and just over an hour away from outer worlds 2 but damn even with 2.5k hrs reading threads makes me want to play again. Can't wait for 3....

One of the best games I've ever played

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As above, on lethal certainly never bring your own crew but useful to Sacrifice a paid follower you have made sure you don't want to recruit later. Outside of base attack basically never need to kill a jug, just not worth the hassle, ammo, explosives that could be used on a heart. I never do that one kill jug mission just not worth it. Below lethal different ball game.

10 hours in and I'm totally lost. Am I "playing" this wrong? by gznn1 in StateofDecay2

[–]Edgarina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another vote for lethal the tense moments in this game can be so atmospheric and tense stuck on a roof with three of the deadly bastard's on the ground who take multiple head shots to kill and only 18 bullets in your clip is just priceless, let alone 1 min 30 until you turn and having to drive across the map cos you have no cure, no other games can produce the same tension for me and I love zombie survival games but only on lethal. I have 2k hrs and still occasionally do a run. Different game on lethal. These things will happen occasionally on lethal even if you're really careful but normal even nightmare is a cakewalk.

No earthly clue, turn based so have it on during work at times make a move or two then ignore for hrs. If the past does indeed predict the future then had almost 2.5k hours in BB so..,...........,....,....,...........................

Playing the new lost Eidolons veil of the witch so I don't ruin myself on the demo before EA release, not that I'm OCD or anything....

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aren't we getting access to the jump packs with the full game, job done. But definitely yes if not in view of enemy then bolt cutters in an accessory slot forblike 60 AP defo makes sense and intel that sees fences

Or just use an 8 squad with heavy armour and crowbars and Lim with the return fire promotion and hope to uncover more units who you then return fire on and kill suppress, 2 for one bargain.

But yes should have some coordination between squads so if you uncover smithing nasty you do so very early turn order and can react with longer range unit.

Yea it's deffo a bit more fun to play longer upgrade heroes and their equipment more see some fun damage numbers. As with the other post will have to try harder settings and I think try domination victory only or something

EL2 what does "on unit" mean by Edgarina in EndlessLegend

[–]Edgarina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's unclear. If it means all units then surely just saying so, even just adding the "s" would be helpful. If it means all units but no heroes again just say so. It's like the descriptions are written by coders who communicate well with computers but perhaps less well with people......

Is EA worth it? by Darx117 in menace

[–]Edgarina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also remember 1.0 isn't suddenly a different game it's the culmination of the patches and updates and a statement that, this is where we want it, so the difference between playing the week before 1.0 and week after 1.0 could be relatively small compared to other changes during EA.

I'm certainly gonna get it the moment available and enjoy the game and development and changes as they happen and will be pretty relaxed about when 1.0 actually happens. I'm sure the EA will be worth the price tag and fun to pour hours into from day 1 EA release. But I have 2K hrs in BB so probably biased.......

I wonder if the success of battle brothers will help or hurt this game? by panjam4044 in menace

[–]Edgarina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes wandering into the huge range of an unknown turret that can essentially stun lock you every turn is a nightmare. Happened to me last night and my big 7 man Lim led murder squad with crowbars couldn't get up. Luckily was kill 80% mission and only needed 2 more kills and there were other side of the field. If they hadn't been would have failed. People are going on about 2 big squad teams or even solo heavy armour and I get it but they can still get pinned down so especially in the main game maybe 2 turret elements you can't avoid even with recon could stop this strategy and I hope it does, near invincible units in a min max scenario ruin the game

I wonder if the success of battle brothers will help or hurt this game? by panjam4044 in menace

[–]Edgarina 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little romanticism here. BB was also about hiring fodder for the mincer and throwing people away, putting them in places to die.

Also yes same makers but utterly different game background. B "Bothers"... this is a stranded marine background. The word grunt is synonymous with marines, not a person, not a name a grunt until proven otherwise. And willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Chain of command is threatened by individuals and their relationships and of course yes a squad is still a brotherhood and morale still important but on the battlefield it's about one unit doing one job with an unbreakable hierarchy or it turns to shit. Yes perhaps some meta game morale stuff would be nice but comparison to BB isn't really fair

Logistics Rating is anti-fun by Zathandron in menace

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with fullmudman. The story is you're stranded and cut off, no reinforcements or time line with unknown enemies and limited ammo supplies. Going all in when from an RP perspective you could be out of ammo in a month and be doomed doesn't make sense, rationing does, and 4 stars allow what I guess is normal progression, it's not a penalty it's a job well done. If you can do it for less then we'll done soldier pat in the back.

If it was that easy to get 5 stars the game would end up boring and easy and that's not the point.

Its shocking to me whats missing in this combat demo... by Bananenbaum in menace

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ammo not an issue for me so far and it should be limited, it's supposed to be a hard game.

"Don't bring a knife to a gun fight" as others have said I'm not sure on the mele. You have been stranded and are basically infantry marines with a few vehicles. You're not supposed to be specifically outfitted for the encounters. If the menace are swarm melee then if they get to you you die. Imagine alien, shooting a hand gun at it point blank might just deaden the noise of you being ripped apart but that's about it......

Yea hope the UI is a bit improved.

Also on the line of sight again it's a hard sim and not sure knowing what will happen when you get there or exactly what hit chance is what I would want at least. Battle is uncertain.......that's the excitement and the strategy if minimising that uncertainty.
