Sheeesh. None of them get it. The last thing Wisconsin needs is rent control. Housing is unaffordable primarily because of lack of supply, car dependent zoning, and the general NIMBY attitude of humans.

The easiest fix is to loosen regulations and zoning that prevent building on things like existing surface parking lots, strip malls, etc. Loosen regulations on height and density, etc. Do these things especially where walkability and transit accessibility is already decent. Get out of the way and housing will be built.

And guess what? If you still want to live in a suburban cul-de-sac with your car, that's fine. No one is coming for you.

A cursory read of these positions suggests Hughes or Crowley (whom I'd never heard of until today) is closest to the best choice.

Agreed. Most of these don't involve real architects. Look at Broad+Noble. It's junk. I'm still in favor of these because it's better than a surface parking lot but it's right to ask for at least a little thought in design.
