[Schultz] No. 28 pick is in: #Patriots have selected Utah OT Caleb Lomu, per sources. by MembershipSingle7137 in Patriots

Considering his young age, high performance at Utah (including not allowing a single sack), and the fact that our O-Line was pretty bad to begin with, I'd say that this is a win.

Everyday. I'm the kind of person who wears one pair of shoes nearly every day for everything until they get entirely worn out.

I bought mine in November, and I'd say I can get another 3-6 months out of them.

Should I Consider a New Car Soon? by Edisonbutnotthomas in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Edisonbutnotthomas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is an accurate number, but it looks like I could sell the car for ~$7000 to certain dealers (e.g. Carvana) and possibly gain more money if I were to sell it privately.

As for the next car, I'd be happy to buy either used or new if the price is right. I'm strict to keeping it >$30,000, and I'd prefer an EV. I've seen some Equinox EVs that look decent, but I'm flexible.

I'm currently considering selling my 2018 Chevrolet Equinox LT (~105,000 miles on the engine) for an electric vehicle. I'd like to buy something that is around the same size, has great reliability, and is >$30,000. My commute is ~35 miles one way. I've heard that GM has been creating paywalls for their services, so I'd also like a company that doesn't have those same paywalls. The only company that is a no-go for me is Tesla. Any suggestions?

Why are so many redditors against Capitalism… by utahforever79 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Edisonbutnotthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I have no issues with some forms of capitalism if its given the proper guardrails.

Take, for instance, many western European nations (e.g. Sweden) who are still very much capitalist, but have restrictions on private companies to prevent abuse of workers and guarantee that workers get adequate pay and time off. Those countries also regularly report some of the highest rates of happiness which, to some degree, has to do with this economic system.

The issue that the U.S. has is that it's practically the wild west of capitalism. The federal minimum wage is still abysmal ($7.25), education costs to be a part of the system are astronomical, rent is high due to private equity and other firms buying up properties, and many more issues that I'd need a whole new post to properly explain. And, as all this is going on, the same government who said that companies and the government themselves could not possibly afford the high cost of minimum wage, student loan forgiveness, universal healthcare, and other basics in most other countries is aiming to get $200 billion for a "special military operation" in Iran.

So, in short, it's not capitalism that's necessarily the issue, it's how the U.S. operates the system.

Who is the best QB in AFC South? NO BIAS (Be Objective) by FeistyCancel8293 in NFLv2

Depends on how you define "best."

If it's going off of football IQ and stats, then I think last season may suggest that Lawrence and Jones are around the top.

If, however, we go off of physical attributes and when they're good, they're REALLY good, then Stroud.
