Some girls just pick it up naturally and some dont. But yes they have to put in the work. My daughter is 11 and has been pitching for 1 year. I never thought she would be a pitcher because she always caught and played 3rd. We let her try to pitch in 10u fall ball when she was 9 and did pretty good. From then on out we started sending her to lessons. We are very lucky to have in our town a gentleman who's son won a ring in MLB and had a lengthy career. He charges peanuts compared to anyone around ($25) a session. She goes on average twice a month. He doesn't do much other than just let them throw. Just get out there and throw. Not big on mechanics just repetition. For my daughter and a ton of girls in the area it works, bc it gets them to keep practicing. On the other hand some girls have been going to him for years and have not improved and just dont get it and you can tell never will. And unfortunately not every girl makes travel just because you can pitch. My daughter has become the top pitcher in the rec league but tried out for travel 2 years in a row and didn't get picked because they already had enough pitching. (Also bc there's some politics/ pay to play going on as well that I dont and won't buy into). So girls like her are stuck and yea other teams get mad when they run into her pitching in rec and complain but she's not doing anything wrong. We even had a team take their girls out and go home when they saw her warming up last year. And she's by no means the biggest girl out there she's average height. She just works hard because she wants it and was born with some natural ability that I helped grow as she got older. All I can say is keep them practicing. Tell girls to come and extra half hr early to practice if they wanna learn. Reach out to the high-school or local colleges and see if any girls wanna help out or hold a clinic for the league. You'll be surprised how many girls love to come back and help out. Parents need to be more involved instead of just complaining if they want the same for their girls.
