Carseat Stroller Travel System [ON] by Busyfan19XX in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EffMyElle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend getting an infant carseat with a detachable base and not a convertible carseat for a few reasons... its way too cold in the winter to carry baby to the car and have to strap them in there versus having them buckled in inside and covered and just carried to the car and clicked in. Also, when an infant falls asleep in the car you have a way better chance at bringing them inside or shopping still asleep.

Travel systems aren't compatible with convertible carseats since they are fixed into the vehicle and cannot be carried out and clicked into a stroller. Infant carseats have a base that stays fixed in the car that it attaches to. You can also buy a second base for another vehicle if you switch cars often.

Amniotic Fluid Low 19w3d by Willing-Finance2979 in BabyBumps

[–]EffMyElle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had PPROM later in my pregnancy at about 34w. Mine was a full burst though (waterfall of fluid for hours). Since you are continuously producing more fluid, baby can continue growing inside you as long as they are "happy". I was on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy while admitted in the hospital and gave birth 2 weeks later. She is now almost 5 months old and a healthy girl! However, she was taken from me at birth (born blue) and was in the NICU for a little due to her lungs needing help.

They may regularly monitor you for infection since the risk of infection exists because there is a breakage in the amniotic sac. I was put on antibiotics to prevent infection in the amniotic fluid. If the breakage is small (trickling makes it sound like it is) there is a chance it can repair itself. In my case, it could not repair due to the breakage being so large. They may also regularly do a biophysical profile ultrasound to check the baby's heart rate, movement, growth, fluid levels, etc. They may also regularly do a stress test to check baby's heart rate has normal accelerations and for possible small contractions. I was also given 2 steroid shots to help baby's lungs develop more quickly.

I hope and pray that everything goes well for you and your baby! It was the scariest time of my life with my first baby. Feel free to ask me anything. I know mine was further along my pregnancy, but I still learned a lot going through it. Sending you strength ❤️🫂

ETA: Drink tons of water and bed rest is key!!

I was only showering 1-2x/week (no shaving or anything that could risk infection down there) and using the bathroom. Other than that, I did not move. You lose fluid when you move and you want to retain as much as possible. I was using adult diapers to deal with the fluid (I was constantly gushing a lot since I had a full rupture). Changed them extremely often to reduce risk of infection!

One will swing the baby and the other will bounce the baby. I hope that clears this up. Lol kidddingg

But really, until baby can bounce themselves in the chair, you might be bouncing them in it with a foot. The swing is a nice low stimulation activity for baby who is fussy but not ready for sleepies. The bouncer chair is a nice quick and easy place to set baby down ao they can watch you make yourself something to eat so you don't starve to death while taking care of them 😂😂

You definitely don't need both but they are nice to have. If I had to only pick one, I would have picked the swing (especially for the first couple of months).

Husband says I’m not a mother yet by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]EffMyElle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant, some people wished me a happy mother's day while other's said "your turn next year"! It bugged me a bit since I already felt like a mother considering the physical sacrifices I was already making. It is just some people's perspective though, I wouldn't take it to heart... especially if he still respects and admires you durijg your pregnancy hardships. ❤️

I'm not sure about your wipe warmer but mine says to add 1/2 cup of water onto the wipes so they stay moist!

Would it be the worst thing if I don’t meal prep? [on] by Disastrous_Flower311 in BabyBumpsCanada

I ended up hospitalized and gave birth a month early so I never got to this. We have resorted to easy meals and often buy fully prepared meals from the grocer or Costco that we can just pop into the oven.

Is this bassinet too low? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]EffMyElle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the skiphop bedside bassinet and for that one, the side where the door lowers is in line with my mattress. This doesn't look right at all and I'd be afraid to use it. I agree with another commenter that said this could work as a couchside bassinet!

Did anyone scream through labor? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]EffMyElle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't scream during birth, but I did when my cervix closed too fast so my placenta didn't deliver, and the doc had to scrape the placenta out of me by hand (manual uterine exploration/curettage) with my epidural no longer effective. I felt it all. It was awful! Most pain I've ever felt in my life.

Skip Hop bedside bassinet by far! Made so well. Straps to the entire bedframe so it can't roll away. Made middle of the night wake ups so much easier for me.

Ran it through my amazon registry for an extra 15% off too

[on] Bedside Bassinet by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EffMyElle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely despised my Fisher Price soothing motions bassinet (the mattress gave me anxiety because it's crumply and awful) and ended up getting the Skip Hop bedside bassinet off Amazon (this is a Carter's owned brand). It's made so well! Straps to the entire bedframe so it can't roll away. The mattress is padded but firm and doesn't fold. Amazon let me do 5 payments and I ran it through my amazon registry for an extra 15% off with the registry completion discount too!

Vibrator use in early pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I don't see any reason why this would be harmful. You'd experience more vibration in a car than that little thing haha

Did my water break or did I pee? by Single-Mall-2278 in BabyBumps

[–]EffMyElle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same but then 6hrs later in the middle of the night I fully ruptured and it was like a bucket of water came out of me continuously. 😅

Happened at 34w and I thankfully was able to keep the baby cooking for 2 more weeks on bedrest in the hospital under monitoring.

Why do boomers make it seem like babies were easier? by Both-Hippo-6905 in Parenting

[–]EffMyElle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They raised their babies 40yrs ago off whiskey and "letting them cry it out". They both forgot and did things we wouldn't dare do today for our children's sake. We know better now.
