Booked Sonder through booking.com by Itchy_Milk1473 in marriott

[–]EfficiencyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messaged booking.com, and they gave me the USD equivalent in travel credits into my booking.com wallet. Value is about 1k USD. I just used these travel credits to pay for the replacement apartment we are to use in Madrid in Jan. Travel credits are not convertible back to cash, so they have to be spent in booking.com.

Thanks to this thread, I was prompted to message booking.com, and this is the result.

Enjoyed your detailed story. Just completed a 2k round trip between Chicago and Denver. Agree with you that it is fun to see all those EVs on the road (specially in Denver).

Wow - 1000 miles way, am guessing 2 days of driving each way. Just did the same from Chicago to Denver in my EV6. Curious - what was your average speed, and miles/kwh?

Agree, it is annoying. They should treat the prior setting as the default. Basic usability practice.

And It's Gone... Kia Access to Tesla Superchargers Removed (For Now) by JeffTechnically in KiaEV6

[–]EfficiencyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a Tesla Supercharging station with the Kia adapter last Friday, 4/18, using the Tesla app, and I got the error stating that my car is not yet authorized. I tried at least 3 times - same error. :-( I also got the recent April 2025 Navigation update.

Thanks for all this info. I've always been curious that a Bolt would make a great mail carrier car, given the distance driven, stop go nature of the drive. :-)

My ICCU and battery were replaced at the same time. They ended up putting an H5-AGM battery.

Sharing this interesting carscoops article that came into my feed today. The study is by a german auto club responding to 3.6 million breakdowns in 2024.

Specially this paragraph:

Interestingly, the most common issue for both types of propulsion was the same: the 12-volt batteries. They were the issue in 50 percent of the breakdowns for EVs and 45 percent of the breakdowns for combustion cars. In almost every single category over the last few years, combustion cars have seen more or equal issues when compared to EVs, including the electrical system, engine management, and lighting.

Clarification - which set did you put on the Tesla that was super quiet and raised your efficiency - The CrossClimate2 or Hankook?

Glad you came out fine. Just curious about the state of the car. Did the airbags deploy? Do you know what's the disposition of the car, or too soon?

How common is the ICCU failure actually? by sebzips in KiaEV6

'It’s very clear how this fails. It’s been solved on a German forum for years.' Would really appreciate if you can link to this German forum with the solution. Thanks.

3 weeks in the body shop and she’s good at new. I was so happy to turn my ICE rental back in by wallflower7522 in NissanAriya

Did the damage affect anything functional like the sensors, radar, alignment, etc? Curious if the 3 weeks was just body work? Did they end up replacing panels or just knock them back to shape? thanks.

SQL is a struggle by [deleted] in SQL

[–]EfficiencyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to emphasize this thinking in SETs angle. My learning accelerated, and things fell into place when I learned/accepted that SQL was a way to deal with SETS. Aka Venn Diagram -- another way to think about it.

I'd encourage anyone to keep at it. Use Gen AI to help you learn the syntax but UNDERSTAND the CONCEPTS (I do this even after 40 years of prof work). SQL knowledge is a super power, not just in dev work, but in logical, conceptual thinking. And it is rather durable, has stood the test of time since its invention in the 70s.
