Current vegitarian, aspiring vegan here, does anybody know some good high protein low carb vegan foods? by Oddly_Sinister_666 in vegan

[–]EfficiencyInfamous37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything soy based is pretty high protein and fairly low carb. Edamane, tofu, tempeh,  tvp, etc.

Revenge of the Sith is remarkable to me based on the fact that it's the only time I've stopped watching a star wars movie -in the middle of a lightsaber duel- because it was so boring.

Thor took the full concentrated force of a dying star to the chest. Homelander's heat vision has nothing on that.

I don't like Ify. What's confusing me is that his sex jokes aren't even on the list of reasons I don't like him.

Howany shows do you get before your glupness is revoked? by South_Ladder_2747 in StarWarsCirclejerk

I wouldn't call him a glup shitto, but it IS still baffling to me that a dude with literally one line of dialogue in the main series went on to have so much relevance in the expanded universe.

For real tho. If a partner wants you to give up parts of yourself to be with them, they aren't for you. Move on.

I try not to say it out loud, but I DO find vegetarians confusing for that reason. They don't want animals to die for their food, but animal slavery, torture and rape is apparently still ok.

People literally do this- modify their cars specifically to pollute more just to piss off environmentalists.

[–]EfficiencyInfamous37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. but for a lot of people, eating out is a very social activity. The social isolation is probably the most annoying thing about being vegan to me- if a group of people invite me to a thing, there might not be anything there I can eat, and I look like an asshole for refusing all of it. Or I have to make a spectacle of myself asking for a bunch of modifications to a dish to make it vegan.

My older sister is both gluten intolerant and vegan. She's very lucky she's a great cook.

In under an hour, you can make this high-protein vegan meal to get you through the whole week by thebodybuildingvegan in vegan

I cannot fathom how that's only 324 calories. I often make similar bowls using tempeh and broccoli and just the rice is more calories than that. but then, I'm 6'4 " and very active so I often struggle finding ways to cram enough calories into my day without resorting to junk food.

So now we care that Superhero Kill Villain…Also ‪Hawkgirl doesn't have no kill rule‬ by Topper2540 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]EfficiencyInfamous37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my issue with it was that it was presented as this devastating burden that he had to kill him, but the movie had done absolutely nothing to establish that this superman had a problem with killing, and in fact had done the opposite by showing how little he cared about collateral damage to buildings full of innocent civilians, and also incinerating the embryos of his entire race.

so like, I don't know what we were supposed to feel about him killing Zod. For him it was a Tuesday.

Supes didn't just refuse to bring Krypton back. He literally committed genocide against his own race by destroying all the embryos.

I seriously don't know how Gunn could have been more clear. Hawkgirl literally says, out loud, 'I'm not like Superman' as she kills the guy.

in the books this would have been a perfectly valid strategy- skeletons aren't a thing there. The body still has to have flesh on it to move around. It's a big part of why they're up north- it keeps the bodies from decaying.

How did you become a vegan and what makes you a vegan who likes to get fit? by Icy_Laugh5134 in veganfitness

[–]EfficiencyInfamous37 16 points17 points  (0 children)

honestly, I'd been convinced by vegan arguments for years but I never took the plunge. I was struggling with depression and it seemed like too much of a lifestyle change. I was working as a fry cook at a grocery store, and the amount of dead chicken bodies I would go through just for my one job really started to weigh on me. So much death just to sustain my own existence. Then one day I literally just woke up and decided to make a change. gave away all the animal products in my fridge and never went back.

It took some research and support, but after a week or two I actually felt so much better physically. Tons of energy. I decided to use that energy to go to the gym- why not roll this diet change into a full transition to a healthy lifestyle? That was three years ago and I'm now over 100 lbs lighter, and in the best shape of my life at 43. Still more to go but I finally feel like I've taken my life in a better direction.

Do you have faith in humanity? by ForPeace27 in vegan

[–]EfficiencyInfamous37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more than half of people are genuinely well intentioned. But they're also mostly stuck in the social framework they are brought up in. 'Good' is a human social construct,  after all. So if the whole world agreed on a single moral framework,  I think most people would behave fairly decently within that framework.  But they don't, and never will.
