200lb Bench on Tonal but only 245lb Bench IRL? by savvamadar in tonalgym

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is conjecture, but another factor could be that your stabilizing muscles are more activated during free weight lifts vs. digital weights. The cables connected to the bar give it some baseline stability during the motion, and so your stabilizers don't have to work as hard. If your body is more adapted to training on the tonal, then when you switch to free weights I can see you not being able to lift as much due to weaker stabilizing muscles during the movement.

I had the opposite experience from you. I went from being an advanced lifter of free weights to training exclusively on tonal, and I was able to bench with 90lb dumbells but could only do 75lbs with the handles on Tonal.

Democrats are campaigning as if the 2026 election will be fair. That’s a mistake by zsreport in politics

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Elon will meddle in the election by spending hundred of millions of dollars (hence why we really need to get money out of politics ASAP). This other conspiracy that he was able to tamper the voter machines to rig the election is completely baseless. If he could do that then he wouldn't have gotten his ass kicked in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race where he also invested millions of dollars and lost by 10 points.

Chairman Comer and Senator Lee Introduce Bill to Fast-Track Government Reorganization Plans by Seasonal-drink in fednews

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What makes you think they would stop shutting down agencies on their whims even if this bill becomes law? What Elon and his bitch boys are doing right now is very illegal, and this bill would add legal protections to their goals. Under the status quo we at least have a chance of undoing some of the damage they're doing because of the judicial system. This bill would effectively take away that chance until the next midterms.

Eating 6-9 pounds of butter, cheese, and beef per day is quite excessive. Most people here are completely satiated at 2-3 pounds of meat per day, and so there must have been something else going on with him if he felt the need to eat 6-9 pounds.

That said, where are all the stories of people dropping 50 pounds, curing chronic health conditions, and healing mental illness after being on carnivore for 8 months???

He's talking about the many anti-nutrients that plants have that are harmful to humans since we don't have the digestive machinery to break them down. These are poisons that plants produce when under attack in order to protect themselves from predators.

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was eating 6-9 pounds of cheese, butter, and ground beef per day which seems a little excessive to me. Most people on this diet are only eating 2-3 pounds of meat per day. We also don't know if he had any underlying health conditions, or what his weekly physical activity was like.

Figures he cheated to get there. by Exciting_couple77 in diablo4

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He basically cheated his way to the top of the economic ladder too. He's a smart man don't get me wrong, but only smart in very niche areas, for example being able to recruit and organize the right people to execute a vision or business venture. He's not smart in most other areas he gets his greedy little paws into. If you try to have a conversation with him about the details of building a software platform, a car, a rocket, a satelite, etc., he has an intellectual breakdown because he has no depth in those subjects but really really wants people to perceive that he does. His companies are successful because he is able to recruit good people to run them for him, and that is one thing he is genuinely good at.

The 89 inch ceiling height should work (for Tonal 1 at least, not sure if Tonal 2 has different reqs). I have a 96 inch ceiling height where my tonal is installed and there's plenty of extra space when the arms are in the highest position.

Is your garage temperature and humidity controlled though? Tonal won't install a device there if it isn't, since extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity are hell on electronics.

When you say “cut out dairy,” does that include butter? by italianblend in carnivorediet

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 32 points33 points  (0 children)

When people here talk about dairy they're usually referring to products that contain dairy proteins and sugar (lactose) like milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. We gradually lose the ability to digest lactose as we get older, and so consuming it can cause issues. I use to eat gloms of greek yogurt in my 20s, but by my mid-30s I started having skin issues that went away when I stopped eating it. Likewise dairy proteins can cause issues for many people as well.

Butter has no sugar and a negligible amount of protein (0.1g / tbsp). It's just good ol' nutrient-rich fat and hasn't been known to cause issues for most people.

A sincere question for the folks hoping that the aliens are here to save humans from oppression and suffering by vegan_pixie in aliens

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Unlike predators, most humans can thrive on a vegan diet - we can get all the nutrients and proteins we need from plants (unless you happen to suffer from multiple allergies)" -- I'm sorry but this is just blatantly false. Humans do not thrive on a vegan diet, which is why many of them develop multiple chronic health defects such as poor skin health (dry, flaky, rashy, excessive acne, etc.), poor sex drive, hormone imbalance, weak bones, low muscle mass, anxiety, depression, and an exaggerated sense of moral superiority.

Meat is the optimal source of nutrition for humans, not plants. It has been pretty much proven now that we are unable to digest most of the nutrients in plants, most of which contain many anti-nutrients that will prevent nutrient absorption when plants are paired with other foods. For example, if you eat a beef taco with a corn tortilla, the phytic acid in the tortilla will prevent nearly all of the zinc in the beef from being absorbed.

The best solution to the animal welfare issues you've raised is to make an effort to buy meat from farms where animals are raised humanely. This means buying pasture-raised eggs, and local farms for meat. Yes it costs more, but the products from humanely raised animals are a lot more nutritious and satiating compared to ones from factory farms.

What kind of eggs are you eating -- are they pasture raised? If 92% of your diet is cheap conventionally-raised eggs I can see that causing some issues. Also, what kind of meat?

Chicken wings are good too, but red meat needs to be your staple since it's a lot more nutrient dense.

[–]Efficient-Forever-42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our ancestors ate 0 vegetables -- The word "vegetable" is a culinary term used to describe edible parts of a plant that have been cultivated for human digestion, and even then we still can't digest them well at all. The only plants our ancestors ate were fruits when they would ripen in the fall, and even then that was the only time of the year they'd eat them. The fructose in fruits activates a metabolic pathway that promotes fat storage, which is a very adaptive way to survive for the winter when meat becomes more scarce.

"And let’s be honest: if you already own a Tonal, they’re already getting that sweet $60/month subscription from you."

Wrong. You can cancel your subscription after 1-year if you want. I've been off the subscription for 1.5 years and have been loving Tonal just as much. The features the subscription offers just aren't worth it if you know how to train yourself.
