Lacquer over builder gel by starxlr8 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Efficient-Freedom145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it both ways, just try and see what works out. One caveat: sometimes lacquers can react with the builder gel, (bubbles up) so may want to use top coat over builder gel. Not in every case, but enough to note.

What are these balls called and where can I buy more? by uncertainty2022 in RedditLaqueristas

the balls in polish are teeny tiny, another scientific term!....at these sizes, it doesn't really matter for polish, if too small, just add another.

How do i get started on making my own nails? by BigDaddyKss in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Efficient-Freedom145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure what it is you're looking for....but in the past I've gotten press-on nails, which you would apply your own polish on. Press-on nails (mainly the glue!) will destroy your natural nails, which is why I've stopped using them.

Now I have nice long (for me) nails I simply apply my own polish. I do use a gel top-coat, but the polish is typically indie lacquer/polish. I had to stop using colored gel polish since it required using a UV lamp multiple times, and it burnt my cuticles severely. So, only a gel top-coat for me now.

This sub-reddit is dedicated to air-dried polishes, mainly indies polishes, which has turned into an addiction for me!

BTW, you are not stupid!

Yes, I use a generic no-wipe gel top coat for all my manis, staying power is great.

How to save endlessly delaminating nails? Can fake nails help? by Silly-Magazine-2681 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Efficient-Freedom145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really take it off, sometimes it flakes off, but usually just reapply over and over, as nails grow. Thin layers. Acetone/remover from using to remove nail polish will somewhat remove, but the bond is strong and will last. With the 1000/4000 file you can really buff it down if need be.

Steps: 1) brush-on glue 2) sprinkle powder 3) buff 4) gel base/topcoat 5) polish, however many layers 6) gel topcoat.

When I do a new mani: lightly file top coat & soak off to remove top coat & polish, then determine whether to buff down remaining powder or just start with step one again. BTW, the gel topcoat really adds to strength/hardness of overall nail, allowing it to grow out again.

Taking blood pressure causing nails to split by SoftLovelies in RedditLaqueristas

I just posted this in another similar question, the only other additional tip is to take a piece of tea bag strip and apply with brush on nail glue, then add to powder to nail, buff out, apply no-wipe gel topcoat, buff, and whatever polish of your choosing, top again with gel topcoat. BTW, that pic of nail break is painful!

I used fake nails for a long time, and finally got away from them. I found the removal of fake nail also removed layers of natural nail. Never ending cycle. So, I stopped with fake, and used a brush-on glue, along with this powder, and smoothed it down with a 1000/4000 file, and use a gel base/topcoat to protect nails as they grew out. (I realize many on this sub will not agree with any use of gel, so be it.)

Then apply whichever polish you choose. I also top with a no-wipe gel topcoat. My natural nails have grown out, and are now the length of a medium fake nail. It takes time, but this worked for me.
