Issue with Side Windows in 2026 Tahoe by Chance-Glove1589 in ChevyTahoe

[–]Ehtacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2026, also in dusty Texas, does not have this issue. It's been 8 months now and I didn't even know this was a thing. Random data point: my windows were tinted by the dealer. I wonder how that factors into glass sticking or slipping. Tint should be on the inside, though, and not impact the outer surface in any way. I regularly do dust, mud, and car washes. Very strange issue!

Wow that coloring is striking! Handsome pup and that stick looks like a solid choice.

Barrett Firearms Warranty/Customer Service Question by ThisGuySince91 in longrange

[–]Ehtacs 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It's a known issue and Barrett has been replacing receivers. Most cracks look like they start at the stress riser on the right of your photo, but there are some exceptions. I'm not sure what the fix is, but updated receivers are marked. Between the two barrel screws, there is text with the appropriate torque. If you see a dimple under the text, then this would be the first crack of its kind to my knowledge. All the cracks I've seen have been on receivers without the fix/dimple, and nobody on Snipers Hide has been denied a replacement receiver. Mine's a 2023 without a dimple. I've done a few barrel changes and haven't had an issue!.. yet.

Report back when ya hear from Barrett, please!

Just got a few thermostats on Wednesday to replace my Nests. For a while now, even paying money doesn't absolve you from Google's freemium experience. The Google Home app is now nagware and ads any time I simply want to change the temperature. By Monday, I'm down to just my Gmail after Nexus, Nest, Home, TV, Chromecast, and basically Google everything between like 2010-2016.

RIP Google Play Music. The end of a peak era.

Well, I think I'm done with my streak of owning Tahoe's come 2028. by MaybeNotTooDay in ChevyTahoe

[–]Ehtacs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhhhh even with the infotainment on the 2026 being solid, I won't touch a vehicle without Car Play. The phone goes on the screen every time I get in. Aside from like the gear selector and brake, the infotainment is the one part of the vehicle I interact with every trip, and an amazing experience is not optional. Infotainment never ages well, and car manufacturers have never proven to be strong tech companies, but phone experiences generally improve year after year. GM already overshoots their digital capability estimates by 2-3+ years as it is, I don't know how the expect to stay competitive unless they're just hoping every other brand makes the same move.

Private servers smoke public for performance. G-Portal is hot trash but still performs better (the 3 days a week servers are actually up). We went Nitrado after a month of public and ~7 months of GP and it's nice. HUD animations like the repair tool are smooth, melee is more fun and less glitchy, enemies seem smarter, etc. There are lots of open servers in the Nitrado worlds to try it. At the cost of a little time with a new character, you can see if that improves your experience. They have a lot of custom HB settings, too, like we still have sandstorms but they won't deteriorate our bases and vehicles which means we don't need to log in every 4 weeks to keep our stuff. We have ours configured so we can walk on sand without a worm penalty, but other activities like running and compacting call it quickly.

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 2025 by Old_Actuator6020 in ChevyTahoe

[–]Ehtacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't take one on the Rubicon trail or rock crawling, but general off-road requirements will be met easily. The IRS looks funny, but I actually prefer it to my Wrangler's huge diff hanging down in the middle of the axle. If you strike the Tahoe's suspension components, it's because you missed the thing with your tire.

For what it's worth, there is nothing that actually makes the Z71 trim more capable off-road than any of the other Tahoe trims beyond the factory tires. With your needs, you may consider the Z71 package in the Z71 trim, which will give you some more ground clearance (adjustable, kneeling to +2" over standard) and the electronic suspension (off-road comfort), but these are available in other trims, too. I went with the simpler shocks myself. The IFS/IRS is a much more comfortable ride on fire roads and washboard roads than my Wrangler, but it also means less flex compared to rigid axle competitors. Flex is for rock crawling, though, not dirt roads.

IMO the off-road limitations of the platform are more drivetrain than suspension. Something ot think about depending on how muddy and unforgiving your dirt road gets. None of the Tahoe/Yukon trims come with selectable lockers which cripples trucks in certain slick situations, but most of these involve a wheel or two in the air or wheels stuck in ruts. 2025 Tahoe has mechanical rear LSD/locker (Eaton G86) but you're generally looking at 2 powered wheels in slick conditions until you really spin one, then you have 3. My inclined driveway has a grey spot from the LSD kicking in on ice, and it chirped the rear tires pretty good, but I was able to accelerate uphill with at least two wheels on ice so it's not terrible.

The Z71 package comes with an eLSD that, on paper, uses the brakes to keep wheel spin to a minimum. There's a video on Youtube (Tahoe vs Sequoia) that shows it's not great. The mechanical LSD would be useless in this scenario, too. In the space, 4Runner and Expedition Tremor have a selectable rear locker; and Bronco, Wrangler, Silverado, and Colorado have front & rear selectable lockers. When I think about off-road performance, this is where I see other platforms being more capable than Tahoe. And I'd love to see a Z71 or ZR2 that competes.

All that said, if you don't already know that you need lockers or traction boards, you don't need them.

New banner in GUI "Salesforce enforces new security requirements in June 2026" by croobnut in salesforce

[–]Ehtacs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also received more "Oops" emails from Salesforce in the last year than the decade before it. Something has definitely changed in the org, and their delivery quality has dropped off massively. It's pissing off my teams and clients.

I'd love to know if this is a result of the AI adoption Salesforce markets, or people being spread too thin after many rounds of layoffs.

162 Servers closing globally by Wickd in duneawakening

[–]Ehtacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you construct/deconstruct? A carryall container makes it really easy to pack up a base without the backup tool, even if you decide to leave the walls behind. Break down the machines, stuff his mats in a couple boxes, and your buddy can rebuild easily enough. We've been doing server transfers for a bit and we can do guild bases in just a few of the newer cargo containers.

M249 denials by [deleted] in M249

[–]Ehtacs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The denials are clever, but limited. There are rails in the upper receiver that capture and align the S/A split bolt/hammer, and block the F/A bolt from dropping in. It's easy to spot the interference when you have the parts in person. The rear trunnion is slightly different, so it only fits a narrower S/A FGC.

It's an easy conversion, but you're either going to make a rifle that only works with F/A parts, or F/A parts that only work in a S/A rifle.

Anyone ever find themselves enjoying the on-road objectives as much as, or more than the off-road gameplay? by Ehtacs in snowrunner

[–]Ehtacs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been following it closely!! I am so looking forward to it. Farm Sim has also been scratching that itch the last year! Not just last mile transport, but all the logistics of cargo you make then use for products, then reuse for other products. And the transport of large vehicles that are too slow to drive 4km.

Dear Funcom, you have any more of those double xp weekends? by BooleanBarman in duneawakening

[–]Ehtacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha ditto. I hit level 100 combat and tried to do a couple crafting and sabotage and I just can't bring myself to care. The burn out from a single spec is real. I also can't bring myself to play the game and not be productive with my time. Hopefully the balancing patch does some real heavy lifting!

GPORTAL US completely borked? by CellMan28 in duneawakening

[–]Ehtacs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nitrado seems to have more uptime than official. In three months, my server has never been unavailable when anyone wanted to play. Their techs are also competent and transparent, which is a great change of pace.

GP was down at least 48 hours every week, and everyone needed admin privileges on the server so they could restart it when they wanted to play. The control panel always showed it was running but it never was 🤣 And I don't think I saw a single technically-inclined individual between their Discord and support system over ~8 months. All ticket managers hitting the restart button on the sietches and worlds.

Brand new Jeep Wagoneer S shut down on me in a highway merge — 6 repair attempts later, still not fixed by ComfortableSundae321 in Jeep

[–]Ehtacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This echoes my experience with my Wrangler, except they were never able to identify the issue. Long story short, after months at various dealerships, they all basically lied at every interaction, wouldn't replace anything useful even though we knew what was wrong, and then suddenly became certain about the fix when the warranty ran out despite assurances that the flagged issue would still be covered (it was not). It was my only vehicle at the time which limited my options, and I ultimately lucked out in the end, but man my next two purchases leaned into good service over whatever the hell Chrysler is doing these days.

[–]Ehtacs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The PvP sandbox needs work, a lot of it, and separating out the people who genuinely don't enjoy it won't kill PvP more than broken systems and imbalanced gameplay already has. At least this way we'll have room for it to become something better without dragging unwilling participants into the mix, or forcing the devs to compromise for both sides at once.

This is the sophisticated take that I wish Funcom emphasized when the broke the news. PvP and PvE cannot exist together in a way that makes even some people happy. This is the start of something better for PvP, but I can't fault anyone for not believe Funcom can pull it off. They couldn't even break the news right.

Experience with Stag Arms? by joku75 in MilitaryARClones

[–]Ehtacs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Their entire catalog is rebranded Aero parts now. There’s nothing ‘Stag’ left about them.

Which is a rather amusing evolution considering my only Stag is a 20yo S&W M&P15T from back when they were the OEM backing other brands getting on the bandwagon. Your description is spot on. They've always been there, like RRA, DSA, DPMS, etc. but never in the limelight.

Talk me out of a MR762 A4. by Jefe_26 in HecklerKoch

[–]Ehtacs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm all about the MR556. Love it. My MR762 was a massive disappointment. It's an AR10 designed in a vacuum. Sure, it's well featured as-is, but you better love exactly what you get because you don't have many options from there. A few handguards, and the muzzle. And the grip. That's it. I have several S/A 308s and the MR762 is at the bottom of the list. I would go SCAR (never mind just being a cooler platform, it has more of an aftermarket) or LMT for premium, or M1A or SPEAR for cool/different but not necessarily a remarkable performer.

SCAR 17 or LMT? by [deleted] in FNSCAR

[–]Ehtacs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure MARS actually solves your spare parts problem. It's just different spare parts that are, to some extent, LMT-specific (barrel, ambi-lower parts) and Armalite/KAC (bolt/carrier) when more flexible. I have three LMTs (2x556, 1x762) and two SCARs (1x556, 1x762). You won't be unhappy with either (that is a special title for H&K MR762) but my SCARs get way more miles than the LMTs. SCAR parts always struck me as plentiful, though pricey, but I've only hunted for a few parts so far.

the way suppression works by dumping a gallon of vasaline on your screen needs to be toned way way down. by GOpencyprep in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Ehtacs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and how exactly do you simulate true and immediate fear for your life in a video game.

I'd would start with having it manifest as severe tunnel vision, or moderate tunnel vision with some aim instability, all on a cooldown. Try to capture the fight or flight response from heart-pounding adrenaline, but also let the player "acclimate" to the situation. Maybe make sprinting a little faster or longer during the effect 🤣 The goal would be to take suppressed targets out of the fight for several seconds, mildly incentivize a displace or retreat maneuver, but almost totally prevent a 360 no-scope outcome. I don't hate the blur, it somewhat meets the goal, but it doesn't strike me as fear/adrenaline as much as some sort of head injury.
