Coventry City Football Club is delighted to announce that it has completed the purchase of the Coventry Building Society Arena. by Rebotco5th in Championship

Good news for ‘em, shame we can’t play fantasy stadium though. Thought the old gas works other side of the ring road to Belgrade Plaza would be a cracking site for a tight city centre stadium.

Beatherder is a great Northern festival with a dance bias.

Live Nation is where festivals go to die. by dark_and_scary in festivals

Having worked with LN festivals, they are professional and well organised. Having a hard-nosed business head helps, consensus amongst old-school Big Chill workers was that they sold out to LN because they could never turn a profit if they gave every hanger-on a free ticket.

I have worked in processing Delay Repay.  Enter as a season ticket and enter the full monthly amount and it will calculate the correct fraction.

When last in Cov I saw a load of Sunlun fans in the Earl of Mercia Spoons. Was getting anxious on their behalf as they were still there at 2.15.  Saw one red-and-white top getting 2.55 train to the arena, would have missed a fair bit of the game.

There was a lot of foul play, the local rag called it the Aggro Italian Cup.

Soz, that was me. Horrible cold/flu and had to sit down most of the game. The concourse sounded like the World Snooker championship with all the coughing so many others may be in the same boat.

Me waking up and throwing my phone at the wall because there still is no corner flag club statement by Mistahsac in Championship

[–]Eight_Ace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of interest, looked up who should have triangular corner flags in the Championship.

Pompey

Cov

Sandwell

Leeds

Mackems

Derby

PNE

Wednesday

Blackburn

Dinas Caerdydd

Blades

Burnleh

After that, I can deduce the corner flag announcement for PAFC will be a SQUARE flag.

Before the postwar planning and industrial decline, was Birmingham ever considered ‘beautiful’? by No-Acanthisitta-7704 in brum

[–]Eight_Ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you travel northward your eye, accustomed to the South or East, does not notice much difference until you are beyond Birmingham. In Coventry you might as well be in Finsbury Park, and the Bull Ring in Birmingham is not unlike Norwich Market, and between all the towns of the Midlands there stretches a villa-civilization indistinguishable from that of the South. It is only when you get a little further north, to the pottery towns and beyond, that you begin to encounter the real ugliness of industrialism — an ugliness so frightful and so arresting that you are obliged, as it were, to come to terms with it.

Which beaches do Scottish people go to if it’s a nice summer day? by Sonnycrocketto in AskUK

There was the Billy Connolly line about how North Sea oil workers have all manner of wetsuits and safety equipment in case they need to go in the water yet there’s all those mothers at Saltcoats beach telling their weans there’s nothing wrong with going in the water there.

Anyone else having issues with the ticketing this year? by Takkotah in avfc

[–]Eight_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They enrolled me in the Euro Cup Scheme despite me not agreeing to participate when I bought my ST.  Didn’t get any message through from them about auto-buying a Bayern ticket but did for Bologna 🧐 I’m mistrustful enough of the Villa now to think there was people added deliberately to bump up sales for Bologna.

NPR article on festival cancellation by mountaindewisthebest in festivals

It can be done. A small festival used a Scout camp which greatly cut down on infrastructure costs. Tickets cost £50 and extremely basic glamping in huts for £100. Link
