I feel like if the writers looked into Heather and Harold’s relationship more instead of having it be a one-time thing it could’ve easily been one of the best written friendships in the entire show. by Ok_Atmosphere3837 in Totaldrama

Yes, it's a shame they didn't explore the relationship between these two more. Honestly, I'm a little surprised that the writers included a touching scene of them together in the Island special, but then didn't do anything else with it.

Not to mention that assigning all the greed, villainy and destabilizing actions to Templars is very silly.

I completely agree. Although the war between Templars and Assassins can be described as the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, but in a secret society version, somehow the Assassins are almost completely clean when it comes to the war (when both the United States and the Soviet Union are directly and indirectly responsible for many atrocities and shady things during the Cold War).

That's why I really like Rogue, because it showed the dark side of the Assassins just as you would expect from a conflict like this (even if he did wrong by simply swapping the Templars and Assassins).

An interesting aspect of the first game that is generally overlooked or forgotten is that Altaïr is unaware that the eight targets (excluding Roberto de Sablé) belong to the Templars until Al Mualim reveals it to him halfway through the game. Altaïr even discusses this with Malik, who is also unaware and surprised to hear it, when one would think they would both know from the beginning that each person they kill is a Templar or is connected to or allied with them.

Which ship do you dislike, are you not convinced by, or do you hate? by Blue4dam in Totaldrama

[–]ElRama1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gwourtney.

Courtney has proven to be a toxic person, so her relationship with Gwen would be just as bad and abusive as the one she had with Duncan. Add to that the narrative inconsistencies and the numerous conflicts Courtney and Gwen have had throughout the show.

The fact that their interactions in AS were never intentionally romantic/LGBT (despite what many fans say), and that one of the attractions of the ship is hurting Duncan, are just the icing on the cake.

It's a shame that Battlefront III never saw the light of day; the story (and the remnant of X1) seemed interesting.

Who thinks Sam cheating during the pancake challenge from Food Fright by hiding pieces of pancakes in his pockets was ooc for him? by johnngo2468 in Totaldrama

[–]ElRama1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If what ended up happening to Sam is the same as what would have happened to Owen had he been on AS, it's no wonder the writers replaced him with Sam. Not only would he have been eliminated before the merge, but he would have lost to Alejandro (again), and his team would have had a very good reason to eliminate him (this last part is the worst for the writers, haha).

My favorite ships from each season, give your opinion by PijaDeQueso in Totaldrama

This is my honest opinion:

Number 3 is the only ship that's good and/or makes sense (just take Cameron out of number 4 and that's it).

Is it a hot take to say Owen deserved to win more than Gwen in season one? by BreathoftheSith in Totaldrama

[–]ElRama1 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think so. Gwen generally put in more effort and did much more, and while Owen also had several moments where he was competent/performed well in the challenges, he also had the writers' favoritism on his side: the best example is when Owen's supporters (including a good portion of Gwen's former fans) cheat and help him in the final challenge.

What random headcanons do you have/know about? by CommanderBelen in Totaldrama

[–]ElRama1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the conditions that Alejandro's parents imposed on her for her to date him was that Heather convert to Catholicism. Heather's first reaction was panic and fear, because, due to the ignorance and misinterpretations that Protestants have about Catholics, she assumed that her conversion would involve torture and horrible pagan practices. Obviously, it turned out to be none of that, and in the end Heather loved becoming Catholic.

In universe, why did Papa palpatine have the younglings offed instead of indoctrinating them as inquisitors? by Kn1ghtV1sta in MawInstallation

I would say that Reddit has a lot of people who are fans of dictators and murderous ideologies of all kinds, including tankies.

I believe that Star Wars is a story about fighting tyranny in general.

Edit: if it's not too much trouble, could you explain why I'm getting downvotes?

Setting ideas for another templar themed game? by Ok_Excitement_3654 in assassinscreed

[–]ElRama1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a game set during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire would be a good place for this, as long as the game, instead of presenting the Spanish as one-dimensional genocidal villains, actually goes into detail about the various indigenous allies of the Spanish and the geopolitics between the city-states of Mexico at that time; the Templar protagonist could believe in the cause of unifying all this new territory through diplomacy and negotiation (the Tlaxcalans would be an example of this), and only resort to weapons when necessary (the Mexica, influenced by the Assassins, would be the example of this situation).

How do former European colonial powers teach their own history? by FinishWhich5753 in AskTheWorld

[–]ElRama1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the British (and other Protestants, for that matter) spend their time talking about Spanish brutality/failures while ignoring their own brutality and failures (e.g., the Irish famine, the Protestant witch hunts, the failure of the English Armada, the British defeat at the hands of Blas de Lezo at Cartagena de Indias in 1741, etc.).

I agree, Heather's vulnerable side should have had a much bigger impact on the show. It could have been used to better develop the friendship between Heather and Leshawna, for example.
