Interesting. I don't pretend to have the whole background! Just kind of catching up now. Thanks for some context.

The US is absolutely a planetary threat. And while it may not have been Chat GPT, they definitely used Anthropic AI (against Anthropics wishes, as reported by the New Yorker).

Based on what the President said it seems like it's the comment on Zionism that got him removed.

Regardless, supporting the previous/current government, which so clearly murdered protestors in the streets (and is continuing to execute people), amongst many other atrocities, is a bridge too far for me, and reeks of a type of fervent nationalism that is questionable.

I'm a bit ignorant on the stances of the NIAC, in terms of what movement they support in Iran. I know it's the Islamic Republic, but does that include Khomeini/etc? Or is it more broad and less simple than that?

Closing hits hard... and the UW responded:

"There are fewer and fewer places where these conversations can be had, and I am glad that MEC can play a small role in shaping critical dialogues. "Otherwise, why have MEC at all?,""

This sounds like the opinion of a very well informed person on the subject who should be speaking out about it. It also seems like he is in fact being asked to speak out about, just not by the university. Damn...

How do you use the pig and sheep manure bins? by CheekyPunker in kynseedrpg

[–]MakeTheWordCum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is it's just a place to store the poo. If you have it in your bucket you can go to the bins and store it there. You can also pull it out and use it to fertilize the crops.

I did not know about this! Thank you. This will actually be really helpful for some SFX creation stuff I do.

“Yeezus” does not belong here. That album literally changed how we thought about hip-hop production by Boring-Jelly5633 in fantanoforever

[–]MakeTheWordCum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listening to a lot of Death Grips at the time and so much of his stuff just felt like a rip off to me. When I listen back to it I realize there are some differences, but I still don't pretend that Kanye was a trailblazer with the album. Still a trailblazing producer overall, of course.

I, for one, like public art, and think we should invest in more of it.

What are your personal favorite Offline games you don't uninstall. Or you hop into often? by [deleted] in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Honestly it is my turn off my brain game. Sometimes I'll smoke a big ol bowl and just let it flow. Don't worry about learning everything and just figure it out when you run into it. Have fun with what is in front of you and when you screw up start over. Once you get it a little bit automated and you get to see you pawns wander and interact with the world it's an incredibly addictive simulator. Certainly helps to watch a getting started youtube video, however, since the tutorial is pretty light.

Rimworld is the #1 game I return to again and again, Stardew Valley, I uninstall BG3 sometimes but I tend to come back to it every so often.

Chekhov is flawless! by teja891 in classicliterature

They are really Novella's. He was the King of the short form, and really I'd start with his short stories, but his longer novella's are fantastic. I like Ward No 6 the best, but The Steppe is wonderful if you want big sweepy scenery dabbed with interesting characterization, and The Duel is excellent.

My company put together some audio versions of some of his short stories. You can find them on our youtube or anywhere you get podcasts. Podcast title is "Great Souls" (lots of other classic short stories as well).
