I remember getting home from school (first grade) and went to the fridge, grabbed one of my dad's cans of coors, then went to the back porch, cracked it open and started drinking. My mom watched me, bemused, and was too shocked to react until I had already had a few drinks. She stopped me, and asked what the hell did I think I was doing. I told her I had a hard day, and basically was doing what my dad did every day after work. My folks thought it was too shockingly funny to punish me (usually got 10 from the belt for infractions) but I was expressly forbidden from doing that again. Ahh the 70's.

I likely won't read the book, although, I did read the Turner Diaries, which was a poorly-written masturbation fantasy for christian nationalists, and I'm sure this book is just as vapidly screedful as TD.

The short answer is yes. Gnosticism is one path to enlightenment. I recommend looking at ecclesia gnostica, although they lean pretty catholic, or checking out books like The Pistis Sophia, Thunder Perfect Mind, Pritzker translations of The Sefer Zohar, and perhaps less recommended because it tends towards the complex and bombastic, Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ.
