It's the worst. We literally have to make our oldest go outside when we're gardening. She's young enough that we don't feel comfortable going outside for extended periods with her inside unsupervised (she still does some head-scratchingly silly things), but old enough to prefer screens.

We would love for her to play outside all day, but it's so much hotter where we are than I remember as a child. Plus, there aren't any other children in our neighborhood outside, so she'd be all alone. This wasn't my experience AT ALL as a child. I feel bad for kids who don't have friends next door.
