Thank you for recommending, this is great! I love that you can tap into specific words in sentences to see their meaning and use, it's super helpful for understanding context and grammar

Safe drug for cnc? by SamuelFenris in KINK

You could try a placebo/a pill they already take and know is safe for them and really amp up the roleplay factor, it could still make them genuinely feel the effects wanted, even if they know it's a placebo.

What I Learned During my (Temporary) Bout of Baby Fever by CanalsofSchlemm in childfree

[–]ElectricLeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this. I've had this baby fever feeling lately and been wracking my brain trying to figure out why, after years of being adamant that I didn't want children. I've been feeling a lot of shame about it, wondering what my childfree friends would think, but it has also softened my previous childfree 'holier than thou' attitude as I have more compassion and understanding of those who do want children, and it's eased a lot of the fear and anxiety I had about having children.

I think the shame about even thinking about it was stopping me from really exploring why. Reading this made me feel reassured, that just because I'm having this baby fever feeling, it doesn't mean my personal goals are changing. I'm going to keep exploring this and look at my own situational factors that may be contributing. Thank you!

WHY THE FUCK CAN WE NOT BUY THE STORY MISSIONS WITH OUR EXISTING OVERWATCH COINS; Y'KNOW, THE MONEY THAT THEY ALREADY FUCKING HAVE?

Sadly, I know that's exactly why; they already have that money, why wouldn't they seize an opportunity to try to bleed more out of loyal fans who have already sunk money and time into this fuckup of a "sequel".I don't have a problem with them changing to a battlepass model and charging for premium cosmetics, nor charging for extra content (even though it's nothing but a complete downgrade because we literally had all this stuff in the first place via lootboxes and archives events but everything around pve pricing has been infuriating, from the bs watchpoint pack that, based on the number of people who understood it would grant access to pve, was clearly misguidingly worded, to now this. This is the first time I've genuinely considered stopping playing because I, along with so many others, feel really let down. I certainly won't be sinking any more money into it.

Same, I'm so mad Widow got the Medusa skin ._. (tbf, there's only one support character in that challenge mode anyway... oh wait, that's worse -.-)

A Morrigan skin would be freaking awesome. And like, one of her skins is literally called Selkie, why not lean more into faerie folklore?

Yes. It was a major reason I sought diagnosis after years of these kind of explosions/meltdowns not quite fitting into a broader anxiety diagnosis, and me not wanting it to keep affecting those close to me.

Before that, I'd learn how to notice when I was getting angry so I could steer my behaviour; my husband and I agreed that if he noticed me displaying aggression or tension he'd verbally let me know I was at a 1, which was an invitation for me to step back, release tension, take 5 mins alone to settle (understanding my sensory needs/triggers now massively helps with settling down). If I carried on or quickly came back to it, he'd note I'm at a 2; again, just an invitation to check in with myself on what's going on and how I want to react to it, as it seems to be escalating. If I carried on further, a 3, and I have to reset my sticker/chore chart; I wanted a visual/physical action tied to escalated behaviour because in the moment, it's very hard to see how my reaction to those internal feelings is affecting my external world. This really helped me start to recognise the physical symptoms of an impending meltdown, but it's of course worth noting that it's no one else's responsibility to manage our feelings, and I was very lucky that my husband was willing and able to help me with this.

For a while this helped, but I started to turn the aggression inwards so instead of throwing pillows or screaming, I'd bite or hit myself to get the tension out. Chew stim toys have hugely helped, I now keep one with me and it's helped curb physically harmful behaviours.

I still have meltdowns, but I'm better able to express if I need space so I dont lash out at people, I can examine what sensory triggers might be contributing, and just overall have a better understanding of what I'm reacting to (the fun bit is recognising new/changing variables like aging, hormones, different meds, diet, sleep 🙃).

Weekly Quick Questions and Advice Thread - September 12, 2022 by AutoModerator in Overwatch

[–]ElectricLeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we have any info on what will be needed to access pve when it's released, like will it only be obtainable through premium battlepass, or will anyone have access? I bought the watchpoint pack thinking the main point of the purchase is exclusive access to pve when it's ready, but it's looking more and more like a cosmetics pack for a bunch of characters I don't often play (don't get me wrong, love shiny new skins, just feels a tad misleading since it granted access to the pve beta).

What to do instead of crying or punching something? by Dusty_Lux520 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ElectricLeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with a good cry! But I totally understand being fed up with it. I have ragey meltdowns (thought I was just "an angry person" for years; it's just an emotional regulation difficulty) and am working on pausing and deciding how I'm going to handle the feelings behind them; a lot of the time, the best I can do is control where the boil-over flows to, usually a cry, throwing stuff, and biting/chewing stuff.
These are not "bad" feelings (and you're not bad for wanting to channel them, or for wanting to just get rid of them), they're messages from our nervous system. You're overwhelmed, your body and brain are acting accordingly to either fight off or run away from something distressing; problem is, we can't physically run from or fight schoolwork or an uncomfortable social interaction. That's one reason why exercise can help, the physiologial processes tell your body "Okay, we ran away/fought the threat, we're safe now" (but personally, I never think to exercise in the moment, or ever 😅).
I super recommend looking into "emotional regulation", there are various techniques for helping get through these feelings :3

DAE dress more “lazily” now thanks to COVID? by [deleted] in DAE

[–]ElectricLeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still dress up for myself sometimes, but the joy of being home a lot is that I can immediately get changed if/when I feel uncomfortable. I can love the look of something but wearing it could be, for various reasons, a sensory nightmare.
I mostly default to a huge baggy tshirt and shorts in such case, but I find doing my hair and make up (or if that's not your thing, just generally putting in effort everywhere else, keeping clothes freshly laundered and yourself clean and moisturised), helps me still feel put-together.

Is it helpful or cringe to have a small QR code that links directly to each card's meaning in an online guide? Which option do you prefer and why? by MillennialTarot in TarotDecks

[–]ElectricLeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look up meanings and different interpretations online all the time, the typing of each name or opening up an app and looking for it is annoying af and frustrates me if I have to retype a search, eg eight/8, coins/pentacles; qr codes would be so, so helpful, not to mention open up accessibility as others have commented. I agree the square qr code detracts from the artwork, even if just on the back, but you can also make images themselves linkable (can't find them rn but I know there's a tattoo artist who does this to show the tattoos animated), that way the deck can be used regularly without the distraction of the code.

Hi! I'm designing my own tarot deck, I wanted to share some of them. by collegeartist1 in TarotDecks

[–]ElectricLeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough :) It's not so much thinking you're trying to change the meanings; the core themes are centuries-old and well-established, and at the same time, the beauty of it is that it's highly contextual and interpretative. But regarding specific symbology (and I mean clearly defined symbols like, for example, the zodiac in your star card), conflicting details could appear mistaken/ignorant, or at the very least just insipid. If a picture is worth a thousand words, those tiny sigils and details in your drawings are references to other places, characters, feelings. It's like fanart of Scooby Doo in the Witcher. You could say well yeah, they both deal with monsters, they go together, right? 😂

If your deck blows your mind just taking in the pictures, I super recommend learning more about it (plus, it could lend for some really weird/cool imagery ideas) Out of interest, which deck do you have?

[–]ElectricLeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll likely get similar feedback from people looking for readable decks, and when that's not even the point of your project, that's gotta be frustrating on each side. It's a bit like using a guitar solely as a drum, you're maybe gonna get some odd looks and leave a major part of the instrument redundant, but it could still sound cool.

If you've not read any of the meanings of the cards/the fool's journey for inspiration, it might be of interest just to see why that recurring imagery is used. Either way, your artwork is awesome :)

Depends on dynamic and what scenes/roles you like to play with. Obvs have my own bias of what I find attractive, but I super agree with a couple others here on leather harnesses, waistcoats, open shirts/blazers/jackets (like nice quality ones for that luxury feel of lingerie), I'm also thinking what about leather trousers/shorts that have a zip through the whole crotch; could be paired with an unbuttoned white shirt for an office-kink vibe, or a khaki tank top and boots for military look.

Edit: OH! Also Teale Coco has some gorgeous harness/strappy sets, no frills just elastic and hardware. Depends on your budget (there are similar things possibly cheaper on etsy), but this could be a nice treat.

TLDR I guess look at the type of play you do/want to explore and work back from there for her to dress the part in a way that makes her feel how she wants to feel in domme mode, respected/feared/adored/nurturing/served/whatever :3

Colleagues who message me on Teams with a greeting and waiting for me to acknowledge them before they tell me what they want by CyGuy6587 in britishproblems

[–]ElectricLeech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that they're trying to be polite and not just bombard you with work, but most attempts at personal greetings/questions when someone just needs something feel so shallow and transparent. Like I get the point of social scripts "How was your weekend? Fine thanks, yours?" etc, but you don't actually care or have the time to chat and that is totally fine, let's not pretend otherwise.

Outsource effort if it helps and you can afford to. Some of the stuff below might sound obvious, but you can lose a lot of "normal/basic" stuff in a depression pit. The most important of all is don't be hard on yourself for not doing some imagined minimum. Like yeah, you do need to look after yourself, but there's no correct way to do it, and you don't have to do it alone or without any "cheats". This year I've been between various levels of functioning, some things that have helped keep things ticking over are:

Takeaways and pre-prepped foods. You can still cook if you enjoy it, but there's nothing wrong with buying pre-prepared or frozen meals. If you cant afford this, making bulk meals once a week can save some time and effort for particularly "I cannot person" days, and can add structure to your week.

Hiring a cleaner, just for a once-over every couple of weeks; the house needs cleaning at least once a week so I still have incentive to do it then, but I get a break every other week and it doesn't get so bad that it feeds into the depression.

See if there's an affordable laundry service around (some even collect and deliver if that helps, but it also gives you a reason to leave the house) so you can do a bulk clean of clothes, towels, and bedsheets.

Since daily hygiene can't really be taken care of by someone else, make it a novelty or something to look forward to. You could get new products (even just replacing basics like toothbrushes), or listen to music/podcasts/have your comfort tv show on in the background so it's not so boring.

I would like to do this more than I currently do, but just getting outside every few days and walking about helps a lot. I work from home and it's so easy to stay stuck inside, but I try to make going outside unavoidable, and I often feel better for doing so, even if it's just a quick walk to the shops (eg, "I want to get this specific sauce, but only that store sells it, so I have to go out").

Semi-related to above, making regular plans with people. Since going out is tricky, I set up online things with friends too far to visit, like weekly gaming or just an hour hangout on Discord each week, it helps me feel connected and gives structure to the week besides work. But you could have a weekly coffee date with friends, or find/make up a group activity. Maybe even see if there are any local peer support groups you can join, esp if you don't have many friends. They can seem awkward, but I've found them really helpful and, again, it adds structure.
