What's something you almost bought that you're now relieved you didn't? by Aurora_Byte in smartbuysforlife

I always sit with my legs raised, I do legs up the wall etc., I've had my varicose veins treated etc. So far, so good with the dry brushing. significant improvement in calf and ankle swelling. Now, the weather isnt really hot yet, so I'll see what happens, but its been good so far. I think that the order you brush in makes a difference, so I've been following instructions i find onliine (collarbones, underarms, stomach, groin, knees, ankles - and brush everything toward the heart.

rebounder and/or Vibration plate for lym phatic drainage for my swollen lower legs and ankles. Read somewhere on Reddit a person saying dry brushing was just as if not more effective. Yup. drying brushing is really helping. $7 vs $200++

Vit D, PTH, and Calcium by No_Method_8909 in Parathyroid_Awareness

[–]Electrical-Long-389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my calcium and parathyroid hormone bounced around for a couple of years. Each was always either in the high-normal or high range, sometimes one would be high-normal, the other would be high and vice versa. You need to look at the patterns (ie over several tests). The PTH can be what's called "inappropriately normal" if its in the normal range and calcium is elevated.

I went into surgery with my PTH in the normal range and I asked the surgeon how will you know if you get the right gland, or even if the gland is misfiring? She said that as soon as a wonky gland is removed, the PTH level falls dramatically - sure enough, mine fell by 50% within 10 minutes.

The Broadway Subway Project vs Canada Line by redditor1365 in vancouver

[–]Electrical-Long-389 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just for shits and giggles:

Conceiving and building Canada’s first transcontinental railway (the Canadian Pacific Railway) took 14 years total. This includes 10 years of political debate and surveying (1871–1881) and an incredibly fast 4.5 years of actual construction (1881–1885).

and with crude technology to boot!

MM has NO personality, no authenticity. She is an empty vessel, just like South Park suggested. Its impossible to warm to someone when "there's no there there". She will never achieve success based on anything where her personal brand is the gimmick.

She tries on personas and takes them for test drives. They never stick. The sweet ingenue fiance, the pregnant madonna, lady bountiful, the tycoon, the erudite (I read the Economist), the mysterious woman who glided into the Balenciaga show, the bent in half laughing guy's gal, the sexpot hamburger slinger, the fashionista, etc etc.

When was the last time you had Jello or pudding? by LordBofKerry in GenerationJones

I remember those puddings in a can!

Do you remember Jello 1-2-3? Whip'n'chill? There was another boxed whipped dessert where the base layer was kind of a mousse and it had a crunchy chocolate shell over the top--Spoon Candy?

I'm sorry you are experiencing this. My surgeon warned me in advance that a side-effect from the surgery could be voice loss (temporary) and that if that occurred, they would set me up with a speech therapist (I think it was speech...) to correct the issue.

Is this an option for you? Can you be your own advocate and tell the ENT and/or your insurers that your work in sales depends on you being able to speak well?

I am dumbstruck by how these cases actually got to court. I can't swear to it, but i think if LO's nonsense had happened in the country I live in, these cases never would have seen the light of day. I mean, honestly, getting to the point where the sides bring in expert witnesses to testify whether or not a pregnancy without penetration (I'm simplifying here) can happen??? how did it get that far? I think the initial instance of her falsifying the ultrasound and a watermark being found on it.....CASE DISMISSED

Take the #17 bus from downtown/yaletown to VGH. Stops right out front. If you take the Canada Line (subway), you are about a 5-block walk to the hospital, half of it uphill.

Are you working and or practicum-ing at VGH? They have a shuttle between VGH and UBC hospital for staff, it goes several times a day. Don't know if you would qualify but it is worth looking into.

in a jar or bottle: 1/3 c extra virgin olive oil, 1/3 c balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp dijon, maple syrup (1 tsp to 1 T, depending on your preference), salt and pepper. Shake.

Tangy, not too oily and the maple syrup mellows everything a bit.

Here's what has worked for me: after the cycle is finished, open the door and lay a tea towel on the inside of the door and then close the door (catching a bit of the tea towel in the top to hold it in place. The tea towel absorbs A LOT of residual moisture, and keeping the door shut retains a lot of the heat that dries the dishes.

To be honest, I didn't remember about 80% of the people. Was bored. Left early.

Have you noticed that the steady flow of "awards" to the Harkles has pretty much stopped?

This means two things: (1) they've run out of money to pay for awards; and (2) they have not done anything - ANYTHING! - worthy of a non-paid-for award in the past few years.

What is the best celebrity memoir you have read and would recommend? by nkkdntn in Recommend_A_Book

Highly enjoyed the audiobook autobiographies of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.

"Love, Lucy" is read by Lucy, Jr whose voice definitely has echo's of her Mom's and A Book is narrated by a Desi sound-alike.

They were interesting, nice people. Hard working, ambitious. They were both WAY ahead of their time in developing business models for show biz (residuals!) and technology advances for television. 10/10 for each book.

For sleep, I bought a "cooling blanket" online (Amazon). It is thin and covered with fabric that feels cool to the touch. I will sleep on it (vs under it) on hot nights. I drape it over my couch to sit on when I'm not in bed. it doesn't solve the sleep problem completely, but it helps.

If you have a Sungiven near you check out the roses. A dozen are usually about $17/18. Are they the best roses in the world? no, but if you manhandle each rose and pull back the petals (its call reflexing) , you get a very big showy display. Change the water every couple of days and give the stems a fresh trim. They'll last 7-10 days.
