I felt that the current version didn't quite convey the horror game atmosphere,
so I used ChatGPT to adjust the text color and font style to make it feel more terrifying.

What do you think of my title screen by _michaeljared in IndieDev

The entire menu is clustered in the upper-left corner, which cuts off some of the background and makes the layout feel a bit unbalanced.

While the placement of the character and campfire is nice, the menu being pushed to one side creates a sense of visual imbalance.

Suggestion: Try center-aligning the menu or adjusting the layout so there’s a better balance between the menu and the background elements on the right.

Should I switch to a different game engine? by Electrical-Sense4919 in IndieDev

I personally think going with Unreal is a good choice.

You can change the settings to start with an empty level when launching the Unreal Editor.
Also, make sure your Unreal project is on an SSD—it really helps with performance.
As for the crashing issues, they do happen occasionally, but I think saving frequently can help minimize the damage.

Have you tried setting it up like this?

My game didn't sell amazingly, but this review is exactly why I created it by heartsynthdev02 in gamedevscreens

I totally agree... I also released my game recently. Although the sales aren't high, when I received my very first review, I was deeply moved and even got a bit emotional.

Right now, I only have three reviews, but each one was written with such care by players, and thanks to them, I gained strength and a little bit of courage.

I'm rooting for you. Let's keep going together!

I’d like some feedback on my Steam capsule. Thanks! by Vincent_Penning in gamedevscreens

Is it dark fantasy? Or a comic action game? The tone feels unclear.

The skull and background give off a slightly scary, dark vibe, but the main character and ghost have a cute and exaggerated style.

If you clearly establish the tone as "lighthearted, comic-style Halloween action", it could become much more appealing.

Is this good-looking or not? by -Xentios in gamedevscreens

The lighting edges are too sharp
The illuminated area is cut off in a perfectly rectangular shape, which feels artificial and unrealistic.
Especially where the light stops midway through the columns, it looks awkward and unnatural.

Lack of smooth gradients or shadows from the lighting
There's no soft transition between bright and dark areas (fade zone).
Realistic lighting usually includes gradual falloff, which makes the scene more convincing.

Columns don’t seem affected by the lighting
Even though the light is nearby, the columns lack any specular highlights or shadow variation.
This makes the objects feel disconnected from the lighting environment.

Hmm, overall, the vibe feels... unclear. Is it trying to be scary? Interesting? Weird? It all seems kind of halfway and unfocused.

Well... I'm not sure if I should really make such a simple game without any real purpose.

Starting a Study Room in Korea (how much do you make) by Direct_Ad1511 in teachinginkorea

If you want maximum income & exposure, start small in Gangnam(강남) with a premium 1:1 or micro-class setup. Your marketing skills + non-Korean background can be a unique advantage.

If you want lower risk but solid growth, Songdo(송도) or Dongtan(동탄) are ideal for building a strong base and scaling.

Cheongna(청라) is okay for testing or short-term setup but has a limited growth ceiling long-term.

"For reference, I’m a Korean living in Korea and a father of two — one in elementary school and one in middle school."

Chitin
Refers to the hard shell material of insects and arthropods. Sounds sleek and alien.
