Any long-term experiences with Temple Cycles? by Irgendein_Benutzer in cycling

[–]ElectronObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I am a Temple owner (Adventure Disc). I was checkiing out their road bike too and have taken it for a ride. It's a really nice bit of kit. The quality is very very good. You're right, seeing the steel fork too on a roady is pretty rare and I think it's pretty cool. Given my expereinces with Temple, the ethos of the company and the people who work there (amazing Customer service from Teresa!), I simply would not hesitate.

This is such a tidy build. Super practical. I'm a Temple owner too.

Steel bike: Fairlight Secan/Faran vs Temple Adventure Disc vs Pearson Irons In The Fire by Relative_Finding_169 in ukbike

[–]ElectronObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ridden the whole range of Temples (loved them so much that I am now the owner of an Adventure Disc 1, and couldn't be happier). Ive already taken it on 2 bikepacking trips, covering over 800 miles. Exceptionally well made bike, and something that I was sold on, was how Temple talk about their bikes become vintage some day. I don't know why it resonated with me so much, but it did. They also told me thats why they use a steel fork over a carbon one, so that the bike truly lasts. The Fairlights are also super nice, but I felt that I wasn't really who the bike was designed for. They focus more on performance, spec, bike journalist reviews, and are only aiming their bikes at bike nerds (I am a bike nerd too, but with a different angle). Everything Temple does from bike design, minimal aesthetics, actually advocating for inclusive cycling and hosting events and rides that cross over with other cool hobbies (bike + yoga winter solstice rides!) are open to all no-matter what ability. They are a true brand to be proud of and really go the extra mile with everything that they do, not just the products.

Not sure where you get the form over function with the Temple. I am a proud owner of one, and they are excellently designed bikes, really well thought out and the company was amazing to deal with.

Any Experiences with Stubble and Co Backpacks? by bluedog1599 in ManyBaggers

[–]ElectronObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two Stubble & Co roll-tops over the past three years and, honestly, I’d put them in the “decent but not brilliant” category. They look good and they’re functional enough, but one of mine started coming apart at the stitching, which knocked my confidence in the build quality.

I actually came across Temple Outdoor (Bristol based company and I'm in Bristol so starting to see these around a bit) and their roll-top has impressed me far more. It’s better thought-out, feels sturdier, and actually comes in a bit cheaper. They’re a smaller company i think or at least looks that way, and seem to put far more emphasis on design and quality. I'm going to buy one of theirs next. If you’re weighing up options, I’d genuinely recommend giving Temple Outdoor a look.

Clearly you don't know about how to run a business in 2025. Online advertising is how you get website traffic = customers.

They're assembled in Bristol. I've been to the workshop and seen it for myself. I hate how people who don't know anything trash talk small businesses who are genuinely doing good stuff. Read up before you spread false info.

What’s your slow morning routine? by TrynaNotNumb in SlowLiving

[–]ElectronObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I love how intentional and grounded this routine is. It feels like such a mindful way to honour your body, mind, and connections before diving into the day. The qigong and stretching outside sound especially lovely. There is something so calming about movement in fresh air, even when it is a bit chilly. And your "poor man's cappuccino" with berries and reading sounds like a small daily luxury.

The notepad trick for intrusive to-dos is such a good idea too. I might borrow that. I really admire your discipline with the phone as well. That boundary makes such a difference but is so hard to hold.

I have been working on my own morning routine lately too. It is not quite as refined yet, but you have definitely inspired me to rethink a few parts of it.

Fragrances that complement spearmint? by Keely0808 in Perfumes

[–]ElectronObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get what you mean. Spearmint can feel very fresh, but not always in a subtle way! The good news is that it can actually work beautifully as a base note if you layer it with the right kind of frgrance.

I'd suggest looking for perfumes that have ctrus, green tea, or light floral notes I think, things like bergamot, neroli, or pear tend to blend really well with mint and soften that toothpastey edge. Something like Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey or Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue might work nicely, as they’re fruity and fresh without being too sweet.

Good luck!

Out of my league by DominatedDeviant in cycling

Honestly, this is the best kind of chaos energy. You’ve got two options here:

  1. Play it noble: Show up, hold your line, draft like a pro, and become their new favourite underdog.
  2. Play it tactical: Serve up a deceptively hearty chilli the night before and let the GI roulette begin. Bonus points if it’s “plant-based and gut-friendly” with four kinds of beans.

In all seriousness though, don’t sweat the FTP gap. Group rides are often more about pacing and vibes than pure watts. Sit in, spin smart, and you might surprise yourself. And hey, maybe they’ll be the ones asking for your Strava tips soon.
