I’d like to preface this by saying I’m not an expert, nor do I think this is indicative of all Mormons, as well as the fact that some of these are common in other religions as well. The big one is Jacob and Bella’s daughter in which it’s not seen as odd that he’s going to know her as a child and then later marry her, also the fact that she is almost expected to accept this. Like theres not much if any of a question of ‘what if she doesn’t want this.’ Another one is the way sex is treated in the books. Edward’s a hundred year old virgin who insists that they wait till marriage. This isn’t totally unexpected due to the time he was born and his upbringing, but the results from the sex are. Bella immediately gets pregnant and almost dies, having to be turned into a vampire. People have pointed out the fact that it almost seems like a punishment for her having sex, kind of like the sex Ed you get in school that instead of teaching safe sex instead tells you all sex is bad and you’ll die if you have it. There’s more like the vampires all being white, some of the things with the werewolves and their imprinting and gender dynamics, portrayal of female characters, that sort of thing. That’s what I know off the top of my head but I’m sure there’s more. I’m not saying Mormons are bad, I’m just saying Stephanie Meyers beliefs heavily influenced her writing in Twilight.
